<Storyteller> You are logging, Stayka?
<DrSchmidt> Yup
Storyteller places a comfy chair in front of his computer.
<Niles_Powers> *g*
<Storyteller> Marv? Frederic? Dingo?
<Niles_Powers> (I am ready)
<Arthur_Addams> (Ready to go)
DrSchmidt has some things to do after we finished the planning session...
<Storyteller> Ok, let's start with the morning after the planning... There you will meet each other. Any plans during that night?
<DrSchmidt> Hm... I wanted to get into contact with Dr.Adams right after the planning
<Niles_Powers> Nothing special to do for me
<Storyteller> Okay, how are you planning to search for him?
DrSchmidt has a lot of things to prepare still.
<Storyteller> Ok, you are getting some z's
<DrSchmidt> (Well, you told me where his labs are?)
<Storyteller> (Yes, but you need to talk with him.)
<DrSchmidt> (You should have some internal phone directory, ne?)
DrSchmidt wouldn't know any company without such
<Storyteller> (Of course... It might be smarter to locate his office.)
DrSchmidt will first phone his secretary.
<DrSchmidt> After all, one probably needs to set up an appointment. He's the head of Q-Division!
<Storyteller> Most people here don't have secretaries.
DrSchmidt shakes his head. That's badly organized.
<DrSchmidt> Well, I will look for Dr.Adams in the phone directory
<Storyteller> (you still haven't met him... he is WEIRD... he didn't want a secretary.. and he didn't want an office asa amatter of fact...)
<DrSchmidt> Well. In that case I'll try to contact Mr.Andersen as he told us we could get into contact with him if questions arise
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Tomorrow or the day after for the big event
?)<Storyteller> this is the night before th setup start...
<Storyteller> it is 21:00
<Jan_Pieterszoon> we planned for 12 hours ?
<DrSchmidt> Wow. That was a long planning session then.
DrSchmidt shakes his head in amazement.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> we started at 8 am :)
<Storyteller> No, you planned from 16 to 21.
<DrSchmidt> We met at 8:00.
<Storyteller> That was on the day before :)
<DrSchmidt> Huh?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> and today too..
Storyteller counts the days fast and realizes he screwed up.
DrSchmidt has the distinct feeling you want to sabotage any proper procedure...
<Storyteller> Wait. Let's start in the conference room.
DrSchmidt wouldn't do such sloppy preparations.
<Storyteller> It is almost 14:00
<Niles_Powers> -_-
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (That's more like it.)
DrSchmidt nods.
<Storyteller> Suddenly as you are beginning to wrap up, the lights in the room become hushed...
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Niles, are you up to anything special?
<Storyteller> ...and the doors open... a form enters...
<Niles_Powers> Nothing at all
<Storyteller> (Arthur :))
Niles_Powers turn to face the door.
DrSchmidt looks to the door and arches his eyebrows.
Peter_Redraven looks up.
Jan_Pieterszoon faces the door.
Arthur_Addams is a young man with short brown heair. He looks as if he came from work, for he is wearing a mechanic's suit. In one of his pockets there are mirrorshades.
<Peter_Redraven> Umm... Art... right?
Jan_Pieterszoon grumbles.
DrSchmidt nods to the newcomer.
John_Andersen enters after the new arrival
<John_Andersen> Ah, gentlemen...
<Niles_Powers> Sir
<DrSchmidt> Good Day, Mr.Andersen
<John_Andersen> I'd like to introduce another member of your team...
DrSchmidt looks quizzically at Andersen.
<John_Andersen> This is Arthur Addams... he will be taking care of the tech support.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Ah neat...
<DrSchmidt> Adams?
DrSchmidt squints his eyes.
Jan_Pieterszoon swallows that comment back quickly.
<John_Andersen> I will leave you to get him up to speed... he knows the basics... and I have an important lunch date in 15 minutes.
Arthur_Addams nods "Good day, gentlemen"
John_Andersen waves and grins, before he leaves.
<DrSchmidt> Sir? This is Dr.Adams?
Niles_Powers rise and gives a handshake to Mr.Addams.
<DrSchmidt> (Damn, do you always have to leave that fast?)
Peter_Redraven raises a hand to his brow...
<DrSchmidt> Good day, Mr.Adams.
Jan_Pieterszoon gives a friendly nod to the newcomer.
Arthur_Addams shakes the hands of those who extend their hands to him.
<Peter_Redraven> Ah, I think he had to go for a lunch with a lovely young lady...
Peter_Redraven looks at the calendar...
<Peter_Redraven> Ahh, Tuesday... It is probably Sara.
Peter_Redraven smiles contently.
DrSchmidt raises an eyebrow in amusement.
Peter_Redraven just nods in Arthurs direction.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> If nobody objects, perhaps Niles and I should scout the area of operation before the big day?
<DrSchmidt> This sounds good.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> That is, we should just make a little visit.
<DrSchmidt> I need to do some preparations still.
<Storyteller> (Shouldn't you first bring your colleague up to speed and up to the plans?)
<DrSchmidt> Mr.Redraven, maybe you could help me...
<Arthur_Addams> So... Am I the only one having a name?
<DrSchmidt> How can I best get into contact with Dr.Adams from Q Division?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (He should have been briefed already)
<DrSchmidt> (ST: Well, before you decide to let Redraven leave, too, I will get that contact info!)
<Arthur_Addams> Well... I am Dr.Addams from Q Division...
<DrSchmidt> (ST: Well, if Andersen brought Arthur here, he should have told him everything on the way. Everything else would be highly illogical)
<Storyteller> (He was briefed in short... but he is not up to date with your plans... so get to it, it is Technocracy procedure.)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> I take it you were briefed Mr.Addams?
<Storyteller> (Andersen wasn't sitting next to you whole day... he was there for about half an hour, yawned and left :))
<Arthur_Addams> Well... I had a short briefing in the situation. But not what is planed so far.
<DrSchmidt> Well. Then let us see. As you might have gathered from my name tag, I'm Peter Schmidt, and I'm more or less in charge of the operation...
Peter_Redraven looks amused
<DrSchmidt> I will try to make it brief. We have to guard a convention of Geneticists at DNA Amalgamated.
<Storyteller> (non Enlightend if I didn't make it clear earlier)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Exactly and that's what we intend to do, isn't it Dr.Schmidt?
<DrSchmidt> Indeed, Mr.Pietersen. I will make it sure that no one will get into trouble there. We will have 50 scientists - mundane ones, that is - to guard, plus our esteemed colleage Dr.Redraven here.
<Peter_Redraven> Yes, I will inflitrate and provide inside protection. Most of the geneticists come from other DNA affiliates, but thanks to the Techies even I get an invitation ;) - though my work is quite more advanced then most of the stuff they do...
<Arthur_Addams> I see... So have any tactics been laid out already?
<Peter_Redraven> Well, we have a general plan... Let Dr.Schmidt expand on it to you...
<DrSchmidt> The procedures we decided to implement include placing Ectopods at every entrance to scan the persons getting in and out, using our unenlightened personal as additional guards for lab, the backdoor and as valet... Mr.Pieterszoon will join Dr.Redraven inside the convention hall, while Mr.Powers and I will observe the outside area. And if requisitions is willing and I can procure a generator, I will add an outside perimeter scanner to the fence surrounding the compound. Exactly this is why I would need some of the resources of Q Division...
<Peter_Redraven> Hmm, how are we gonna take care of Mr.Pieterszoon's cover?
<Arthur_Addams> Any reports of RD activities?
<Peter_Redraven> And I think we should add a security station on top of the main building. From there we can control most of the situation.
<DrSchmidt> Mr.Adams, so far there are mainly reports of probably mundane incursions.
<Peter_Redraven> Dr.Schmidt, you could make a security station and monitor the situation from the top.
<DrSchmidt> This sounds like a wise precaution, Dr.Redraven.
<Arthur_Addams> But some extra security is always welcome. Just in case.
<DrSchmidt> Exactly, Dr.Adams. I could rig the chain fence and add a transponder and add this to a scanner on top of the building to survey the whole perimeter. I was hoping you could support me by giving me access to some material at Q Division labs. - So, I think I didn't leave anything out?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Dr.Redraven, since we pretend to be a company arranging the security, wouldn't it be fitting that one of their supervisors came along to see if anything works out alright?
<Peter_Redraven> Hmmm, yes...
<Arthur_Addams> Well. I will see what I can do for you. At least I can help you build the proper devices and help you set up the procedures.
<Niles_Powers> Remember, Dr.Schmidt, if you can't get the scanner from Q, I could try to write a surveillance procedure.
<Peter_Redraven> But won't it be problematic if he turns up in the convention halls?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Not if he doesn't bother the attendees.
<DrSchmidt> Dr.Redraven, we should secure the whole area. I think we should be able to procure the proper clearances for that?
<Peter_Redraven> That is your problem. I am not gonna bother with technicalities. I research, I fight and I socialize. Other stuff is not my problem.
<DrSchmidt> Well, we have been given the papers and everything for the Security Company. I think there should be the proper clearances, too.
DrSchmidt can't believe that requisitions would act so sloppy as to forget something like this.
<Peter_Redraven> Okay... but try not to be blatant. A money shark like Pieterszoon here tends to attract attention, especially among a horde of milde mannered scientists.
<DrSchmidt> Well, he is best used inside, though, as in a case of an emergency he can't move fast enough. This is why it would be prudent for Mr.Powers and me to observe the outside.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Dr.Redraven, you are out of line.
<Peter_Redraven> Am I?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Yes, you are.
Peter_Redraven looks up mockingly.
<Peter_Redraven> I may not look like much of a scientist, but I am recognized. And you stink of money up to here.
Arthur_Addams keeps quiet and listens to the small scuffle between the team members.
<Arthur_Addams> Gentlemen, could we keep this for later?
<Niles_Powers> Everyone got a comlink?
<DrSchmidt> (Niles: Shouldn't that be standard issue?)
<Storyteller> (standard issue)
<DrSchmidt> Dr.Adams, I am not yet briefed on your strengths and weaknesses and where you fit into this team.
<Niles_Powers> (Yes; that's just a way to remind people to wear them -_-)
DrSchmidt smiles shortly and shows Niles the comlink of his. He has it in his pilot's wrist watch.
Peter_Redraven points at one of the buttons on his jacket.
Jan_Pieterszoon gently taps his glasses.
<DrSchmidt> As a matter of fact, I'm somewhat astonished that you as head of the Q Division would join a field op.
DrSchmidt looks questioningly at Dr.Adams.
Peter_Redraven smirks and looks amused at Dr.Schmidt.
<Arthur_Addams> Well, I'm trained as a technician, in repairs, maintenance, heavy ordinance and in the building of devices.
DrSchmidt nods approvingly.
<DrSchmidt> That's great to hear! I'm looking forward to working together with you.
DrSchmidt is relieved that now he has a technician colleague in the Amalgam.
<Arthur_Addams> It's a pleasure, Dr.Schmidt. I think we will work well together. I will aid you to the best I can.
DrSchmidt smiles at Adams.
<DrSchmidt> Well, I guess we can start as soon as this meeting is adjourned. So... You want to make a preliminary check on the surroundings, Mr.Pieterszoon, Mr.Powers?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> It sounds like the most logical thing to do.
<DrSchmidt> I guess we should split, so that we can work more efficiently.
Arthur_Addams nods.
<Arthur_Addams> Sure... I'm interested in seeing what ideas you have.
<Niles_Powers> I'll go with Mr.Pieterszoon.
<Peter_Redraven> Who is gonna go?
<DrSchmidt> I will leave the reconnaissance to you, while I go over to prepare some devices with Dr.Adams.
<Peter_Redraven> Niles, and I know Southampton well.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Since you are invited tomorrow, wouldn't it be a little weird if you showed up today already?
<Niles_Powers> (ST: I'll take a camera to take a few pictures.)
<Niles_Powers> Jan: we ll not able to go inside, I think?
<Peter_Redraven> That is not a problem Mr.Pieterszoon :)
Peter_Redraven grins.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> We are supposed to give them that little bit of extra protection. At least we should be able to check things beforehand?
<Peter_Redraven> Of course. The ids came in 2 hours ago.
<Niles_Powers> (ST: if we are security assets, what compagny are working from? do we have fake id?)
DrSchmidt listens to the other three preparing and takes mental notes on their performance
<Peter_Redraven> that is the box that cute secretary brought here while you were overtaken with security..
Arthur_Addams listens quietly
Peter_Redraven points at a green box fileld with cards and documents
Niles_Powers open the box
<Storyteller> There are ID's for each of you showing you as members of "Eagle Sucrity" members
Niles_Powers give everyone his badge -_-
Arthur_Addams takes his badge and checks it
<Niles_Powers> we are good to go then Mr.Pieterszoon
DrSchmidt takes his,too.
<DrSchmidt> What about the fitting uniforms?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> All set
<Storyteller> There are no unfiorms
DrSchmidt raises and eyebrow
<Storyteller> Though there are papers that confirmthat you are sucurity specialists an that your not wearing security getups will enhance procedures
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (I take it we don't take any guns..considering this is England)
<DrSchmidt> (Jan: Heh)
<Storyteller> (You all have licenses for guns and security agencies can use guns...)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (In England for security personal...wauw)
<Storyteller> (though I think that Addams will primarily carry his suitcase around with him :))
<DrSchmidt> (I don't think I'll carry a gun either.I have my toolcase ^_^)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Okay, let's go, or is there anything you still need to arange Mr.Powers?
<Niles_Powers> Nothing more
<Peter_Redraven> Ok, I'll leave you. I have a date in an hour and should get ready for that.
<DrSchmidt> Well, I guess we should adjourn the meeting then.
<Peter_Redraven> I probably won't be back in the construct before tomorrow morning...
Peter_Redraven grins
<Peter_Redraven> When do we set out?
<DrSchmidt> Please do as planned, and we shall meet again at 19:00. I think we might meet in the canteen here.
Niles_Powers takes a look at his watch to see what time is it.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> That's about 2 hours??
<Peter_Redraven> Okay... I won't attend... and please try to avoid calling me unless it is the construct itself falling apart...
<DrSchmidt> (Jan: It was 14:00 when we started. It should be 15:00 now.)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (miscalc)
<Storyteller> (It is 14:38. So when do you start there?)
<DrSchmidt> (I don't think you need more than 4 hours to go there, make some checks and return)
<Niles_Powers> ets move gentlemen
<Jan_Pieterszoon> I was thinking we set up everything 2 hours before the party officially starts?
<Peter_Redraven> I'll probably appear on the reception itself... I'll call in to you around 10 AM tomorrow... if I'll be able to get up...
<DrSchmidt> (Jan: The convention was tomorrow I thougt)
Peter_Redraven smiles sheepishly and raises for the door
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Yes)
Arthur_Addams looks at Dr.Schmidt "So what can I do for you?"
<DrSchmidt> Well, Dr.Redraven. Be seeing you
Jan_Pieterszoon waits till Dr.Redraven has left.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Good riddance.
<Storyteller> (You will start doing security 2 hours before it starts!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?)
<DrSchmidt> Well, Dr.Adams, let us go to your lab - I have some plans here.
DrSchmidt lifts his laptop.
Peter_Redraven goes back.
<Peter_Redraven> I heard that, greenhorn.
Niles_Powers leaves the room.
<Peter_Redraven> Wanna take it to the gym?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (I said I was gonna wait till he left, you fool)
Arthur_Addams starts to lead Dr.Schmidt to his lab. He may notice that wherever they go the lights start to dim.
<DrSchmidt> (ST: We will do *proper* security. *I* am in charge ^_^ :-))
Jan_Pieterszoon follows Mr.Powers.
<Storyteller> (He heard you... remember what I told you about wiring and bugging of the offices?)
<Peter_Redraven> So, Jan... You up for a little workout?
DrSchmidt follows Dr.Adams to the lab. He thinks the other guys might take some time to play, he wants to do preparations.
<Arthur_Addams> So, Dr.Schmidt. Do you alrady have something in mind to build, or to improve? I think I could be of some help...
<Niles_Powers> Mr.Addams, are you wearing some kind of EMP device on you?
<DrSchmidt> Well... Take a look here...
DrSchmidt puts his laptop onto a table in the lab and activates a CAD proggy.
Arthur_Addams takes a look at the prog
<DrSchmidt> It shoulds the plans of an enhanced generator unit that can feed power into a metal writing to turn it into some kind of antenna
Peter_Redraven smirks at the kid and heads towards the elevator straightening his suit.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (It seems everyone can hear what we are saying except us..)
<DrSchmidt> (Niles: I have left with Addams. I said the meeting was adjourned and that we'd meet at 19:00 in the canteen.)
Arthur_Addams' lab has lots of tools lying around, a computer and a hardsuit can be seen on a workbench. This hardsuit is neatly cleaned and seems to be treated with much care.
<DrSchmidt> (I don't have time for bickering, there are things to be accomplished)
Niles_Powers waits outside the room for Jan.
<Storyteller> Okay, what is who gonna do?
DrSchmidt looks curiously at the hardsuit. He saw some of those on marines at e cop
<DrSchmidt> That's an Alanson, isn't it, Dr.Adams?
<Arthur_Addams> Oh... Do you like my hardsuit?
DrSchmidt nods.
<Niles_Powers> (ST: I ll wait for Jan, then we ll both go inspect the site )
<DrSchmidt> Indeed. It's a fine piece of equipment. Too bad I could never try one out.
<Storyteller> Schmidt is about to realise he is talking to the wrong Adams :)
<DrSchmidt> (ST: He introduced himself as Dr.Addams, and Pete of course heard Dr.Adams. ^_^)
<Arthur_Addams> I know. I treat mine with lots of respect and I will make them better.
<Storyteller> (Yes, I knooow :))
<DrSchmidt> (ST: So logically this has to be the right one :-)
<Storyteller> (Adams is a so rare surname ;) That is what I wanted anyhow ;))
<DrSchmidt> (ST: How comes he never contradicted me when I mentioned he must be head of Q Division etc? ^_^)
<DrSchmidt> Well, that's recommendable.
<Storyteller> (You never said anything about the head of the division ;) He does work in the Q division though.)
<DrSchmidt> So... These are my plans...
Arthur_Addams turns back to look at the laptop.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Me hopes that Mr.Powers and I take a normal car to the complex)
<Niles_Powers> (Pete did say: Why is it that the head of Q div is going on a field assignement)
DrSchmidt points at the monitor.
<DrSchmidt> I need to build this device, and it would be beneficial if I could use modify an existing generator for that.
Fnord_Adams wanders into Addams' part of the lab. He looks like a haggard old man with long straight white hair going into the air and an unkempt moustache.
<DrSchmidt> (Powers: Yeah. Obviously he didn't get the clue *groans inwardly*)
<Niles_Powers> (nyark nyark)
<Fnord_Adams> Oh, hi Johnny, is this your new girlfriend?
Fnord_Adams looks at Doc Schmidt.
DrSchmidt blinks
<DrSchmidt> Huh?
<Fnord_Adams> You know, you shouldn't be bringing anyone like that here.
Fnord_Adams squints and looks up and down Schmidt.
DrSchmidt is somewhat perplexed.
<Fnord_Adams> She doesn't even have decent breasts!
DrSchmidt snickers.
<DrSchmidt> Er... Good day, Sir...
Fnord_Adams bobs left-right.
<Fnord_Adams> Er... She even sounds male! Ahh, Johnny you need to pick better...
Arthur_Addams looks at Fnord.
<Arthur_Addams> Oh.. Good day, sir.
DrSchmidt arches an eyebrow.
<DrSchmidt> Maybe because I *am* male?
Fnord_Adams squints and grabs a pair of glasses from his coat.
<Fnord_Adams> Ummm... Yes, you are... Umm, sorry.
<DrSchmidt> I would be worried if that should have changed.
Fnord_Adams conspiratively leans to Addams.
<Fnord_Adams> Since when did you take up boys?
DrSchmidt massages his temples. This Construct definitely had its share of peculiar scientists.
<DrSchmidt> Sir... Maybe I should introduce myself. I'm Dr.Peter Schmidt, transferred to Birmingham from Frankfurt/Main, Germany.
<Fnord_Adams> Ahh, well. Keep up the good work and don't do anything obscene in the work place..
Fnord_Adams starts to wander off...
Arthur_Addams sighs.
<Arthur_Addams> This is not my boyfriend, Sir. This is Dr.Schmidt, who is here to do some research.
Fnord_Adams turns back
<Fnord_Adams> Aah. Ihm. Uhm. Schmidt?
<DrSchmidt> Yes, sir.
<Fnord_Adams> Ahh, you were the designer of the V2 rocket! I hated you during WW2. You sold your work to the goddamn Nazis!
<DrSchmidt> Not really, sir. This was Werner von Braun.
<Fnord_Adams> Ahh. Von Braun was your student. Schmidthausen... Yes, yes...
<DrSchmidt> Not quite right either, sir.
<Fnord_Adams> Schmidthausen was our name. You were an Iterator.
Arthur_Addams already knows the habits of his superior and stays silent, watching how Dr.Schmidt will react.
Fnord_Adams looks boggled.
<DrSchmidt> I was born exactly 20 years after the end of WWII.
<Fnord_Adams> Uhmhm.
Fnord_Adams looks up and down.
<DrSchmidt> In Freiburg in Breisgau, to be precise.
Fnord_Adams grabs a small bottle and drinks some green fluid, before he straightens up.
<Fnord_Adams> Ah.
DrSchmidt thinks - And they say we Void Engineers were the Union's nutcases?
<Fnord_Adams> Yes... Who are you? And what are you doing in my labs?
<DrSchmidt> I'm Dr.Peter Schmidt, formerly NSC Unit-4, now assigned to Birmingham.
<Fnord_Adams> And who let you into my labs?
<DrSchmidt> If you were so kind as to give me your name, sir?
<Fnord_Adams> You must be a spy!
Arthur_Addams louder "Sir, this is Dr.Schmidt who was recently assigned to our Construct. He needs to do some reasearch for a field operation"
<Fnord_Adams> Why I am... I am... Ummm.
<DrSchmidt> Your labs? Aren't they Dr.Adams' labs?
<Fnord_Adams> Yes Johnny...
DrSchmidt points to Arthur.
<Fnord_Adams> Umm.
Fnord_Adams looks at the nametag on his white coat. It says Adams.
<Fnord_Adams> They are MY labs and you are not clear to be here.
DrSchmidt looks from Adams to Addams and back.
<Fnord_Adams> As is that goddamn robot you have, Johnny!
<DrSchmidt> You happen to be related somehow?
<Arthur_Addams> No.
DrSchmidt feels that his cheeks grow hot as he realises he mistook the Ad(d)ams...
<Fnord_Adams> I told you not to bring your robots in my Q.
<Arthur_Addams> You see, Ad(d)ams is common name.
Fnord_Adams shakes his head
<Fnord_Adams> Ahh, Schmidt. Yes, yes...
<DrSchmidt> Well, as you are obviously the chief of the lab - would it be possible that you grant me the clearance to do some research here?
<Fnord_Adams> Andersen told me about you. Yes, you are that green agent? Why do you want to work here? I heard you specialize in macrotechnologies. We do microtech here.
<DrSchmidt> Well, sir, if I might show you?
Fnord_Adams frowns
DrSchmidt waves Dr.Adams to his laptop and shows him the specs.
<DrSchmidt> I'm not a Macrotechnician.
<Fnord_Adams> What is that thingammajig?
Fnord_Adams looks interested, and for the first time he looks concentrated... and realtivley sane.
<DrSchmidt> Well, this is an enhanced generator that induces a quantum flux into a semimetallic or metallic conductor, so that it can work as antenna to scan a perimeter for extradimensional incursions. I thought it might be a good idea to take this along to facilitate our objective.
<Fnord_Adams> Ahh yees...
<Storyteller> (We will stop you here. - Who went to Southampton to the DNA facilities?
Jan_Pieterszoon did.
<Niles_Powers> And I.
<Storyteller> Okay. After a half hour ride, you come to the Southampton suburbs. There, surrounded by the shrubbery fence, lies the entrance to the DNA complex. As you come to the ramp, you are stopped by a security guard.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (usually drivers side)
Niles_Powers opens the window and shows his badge.
<Guard> you are?
<Niles_Powers> Hello, we are from Eagle Security. We are the extras. We came to present ourselves and to have a look at the site.
Guard looks at the ID, mentions something about security ops to the other guard in the booth and waves you in.
<Storyteller> As you come in the parking lot, a woman exits the main building and heads towards you.
Niles_Powers puts his ID on the front of his suit.
Prof_Hendricks is a pretty, blond girl with rimless glasses in a business suit.
Jan_Pieterszoon clips the ID to the front of his suit, too.
Prof_Hendricks puts her glasses up.
<Niles_Powers> Hello.
Prof_Hendricks waits impatiently for the security operatives. She looks a bit distraught.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Good afternoon
<Prof_Hendricks> Ah yes, you are from that security firm - What's its name? Ah, well.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Eagle Security, Ma'm.
<Niles_Powers> Eagle security
<Prof_Hendricks> Ah yes.
Prof_Hendricks mutters something
<Prof_Hendricks> Yes... You will probably do. So, what do you need helpwise? - I am Margaret Hendricks, one of the managers of this complex.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Well, a little tour of the premises. We are supposed to help guard ist, so this would be most welcome, Ma'm.
Prof_Hendricks looks very distraught.
<Prof_Hendricks> Ah yes. Ok, I'll take care of it.
<Niles_Powers> We will need the clearance to install some video surveillance device and the possibility to tour the site. Rest assured that the participants will not see our presence, Miss Hendricks.
Prof_Hendricks starts to walk you around the premises, showing the buildings and noting that there are 2 security guards in the complex entrance, and 3 in front of the labs. She seems to want to finish this fast.
<Prof_Hendricks> Is that it? This is the premises. That is all you need to protect. I expect the scientists not needing to see your presence.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Did we come at an incovenient time, Ma'm?
<Prof_Hendricks> Ummm. No, it is okay. just take care of it ASAP.
<Niles_Powers> We'll do.
<Prof_Hendricks> I need to go and join Professor Gitilatis in the labs. Any requirements, or can I just go on? You'll manage around here?
<Niles_Powers> We'll manage by ourselves.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> If I may be so free to ask, what kind of research are you doing around here, Ma'm?
<Prof_Hendricks> Applied genetics. I have to go on. You will get around.
Niles_Powers nods
<Prof_Hendricks> Please, don't bother the scientists.
<Niles_Powers> We will not.
Prof_Hendricks walks away
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Mr.Powers, perhaps we should make a tour along the outside perimeter of the site, to see whether there are any other entrances besides the main entrance (gates in the fence I mean).
<Niles_Powers> Yes.
<Storyteller> As you look at the buildings, you note they are both simple two story affairs, and that the complex has a huge balcony, looking into a beautifull enclosed garden.
<Niles_Powers> (ST: I try to see if the plan we got is accurate)
<Storyteller> (The plan is accurate. 99%)
<Niles_Powers> Heh.
<Storyteller> Just ask what you want to look into.
<Niles_Powers> (I also want to judge the mood of the guards when we are passing by)
<Storyteller> The guards are all alert, especially those in front of the labs.
<Niles_Powers> (ST: Conf room and the fence)
<Storyteller> Those in front of the labs looked a bit jumpy and kept their eyes on you. What you noted was the fact the guards in front of the labs have submachine guns.
Jan_Pieterszoon waits till they are at a quieter spot.
<Niles_Powers> (k)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Mr.Powers, have you noticed a few of the strange comments Miss Hendricks made?
<Niles_Powers> I did
<Niles_Powers> (ST: could I do an Awareness check to see if something is rotten here?)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> first of all, she thought too long about most of her answers....and second of all I didn't like the 'You will do.' comment one bit.
<Niles_Powers> They are doing something in this lab. I hope this will not bring us into trouble.
<DrSchmidt> (Heh. I *knew* it all along!)
<Storyteller> okay roll
<Niles_Powers> !dice 4
<agww-dice> Niles_Powers rolls the dice and gets the following results: 8 1 8 7
<Storyteller> (nothing)
<Niles_Powers> (k. - Do the guards in front of the lab look more nervous than the others?)
<Storyteller> (No, only more alert. As if they are ordered to watch VERY carefully who goes into the labs. Extremely carefully.)
<Niles_Powers> (k)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Mr.Powers, you are perhaps better suited for this, but are we by any chance being watched?
<Niles_Powers> (In the conf room, I try too see where Mr.Addams could hide to play backup.)
<Storyteller> (Addams can go as a security operative and patrol like you.)
<Niles_Powers> (ST: hum I was thinking about a place where he could don his suit. - Do we seem to be watched?)
<Storyteller> (Not since you left the vicinity of the lab entrance.)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (One question: are there any windows in the lab building?)
<Niles_Powers> I dont think so, Mr.Pieterszoon.
<Storyteller> (Yes, they are all darkened)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Also windows one could use to enter from the side that isn't guarded?)
<Storyteller> roll me a perception + alertness
<Jan_Pieterszoon> !dice 2
<agww-dice> Jan_Pieterszoon rolls the dice and gets the following results: 9 1
<Niles_Powers> ^^
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (The dice gods don't like me.)
<Storyteller> (You notice that there is something strange with the glass)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (And that being?)
Jan_Pieterszoon takes a closer look.
<Storyteller> try again (diff +1)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> !dice 2
<agww-dice> Jan_Pieterszoon rolls the dice and gets the following results: 9 9
<DrSchmidt> (Heh)
<Niles_Powers> (nice roll ^^)
<Storyteller> The glass looks like it is armored... HEAVILY armored, as in 20 cm wide, and the material is not identifiable to your simple knowledge of chemistry.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> I becon Mr.Powers.
Niles_Powers comes closer.
<Niles_Powers> (whisper) Yes?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (whisper) Heavily armored glass... Now don't you think that's a little strange for the windows of a laboratory?
<Niles_Powers> (whisper) That depends on what they experimenting, or if they are expecting lots of trouble.
<Storyteller> (You notice that it is already 17:34. What are you gonna do before heading back? It seems that everything checks out and that the labs are really heavily armored.)
<Niles_Powers> (ST: Could I use my bond watch as focus to see what's in the other side of the window? With Corr 2)
<Storyteller> (Nope. The Bond Watch isn't made for that. But you can try. Diff +1)
<Niles_Powers> (I try then)
<Niles_Powers> !dice 3
<agww-dice> Niles_Powers rolls the dice and gets the following results: 6 2 6
<Niles_Powers> 2 sux
<Storyteller> Okay, you notice that the room next to the windows is empty, as in nothing is inside, but in the room next to it there seems to be an elevator leading downwards and next to it are standing two huge guys.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Mr.Powers, while we still have time, I'd like to visit the local archive (dunno the name, but blueprints are kept somewhere).
<Niles_Powers> (ST: ok)
<Storyteller> (You won't find it in the blueprints. You pulled them for the map of the place and this wasn't there.)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (You mean the Union didn't see this??)
<Niles_Powers> Ok, let's move, Mr.Pieterszoon.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (nice)
<Niles_Powers> They got a secret subfloor.
Jan_Pieterszoon follows Mr.Powers to the car.
<Niles_Powers> We go back to the Construct then.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> That sounds reasonable.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (At the Construct - if my calculations are correct, an hour ist left till the meeting - I'll try to find Dr.Schmidt and Dr.Addams.)
<Storyteller> Okay as you head back you go to grab some food and count to get back in time for the meeting.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (We did make the appointment in the cantine, I take it I can grab a bite over our meeting. So basically tell me when I find the two techies.)
<Storyteller> Back to the base...
<Fnord_Adams> So what does it do exactly, Schmidt?
<DrSchmidt> Well, Dr.Adams, this is supposed to survey the perimeter. By using the metal fencing as antenna, I can get a scanner up that takes care basically of the whole surrounding.
Arthur_Addams listens carefully.
<DrSchmidt> Thus we can simply let the scanner run, so that we are made aware of possible extradimensional incursions. This is a cheap way that avoids the need of more Ectopods.
<Fnord_Adams> Hmmm.
DrSchmidt only needs to rig up an Extradim scanner to the generator, add a receiver and add this to a perimeter scanner as we want to install at the roof of the building.
<Fnord_Adams> And that has exactly what to do with my division? That is work for the Engineers. I don't do this stupid extradimensional mumbo jumbo.
<DrSchmidt> Well, you are the boss here, so I need to get your okay to use some of your devices.
<Fnord_Adams> And what might you require?
<DrSchmidt> It's kind of a cross-Conventioal thing, Dr.Adams.
DrSchmidt actually mainly wants the clearance to this lab, too. Just to be sure.
<Fnord_Adams> This is not a giftshop, you know? Go and get it through normal channels!
<DrSchmidt> I just need the use of one of your generators plus a transceiver unit...
<Fnord_Adams> You are new here and you expect to get anything you want just by asking me?
<DrSchmidt> The rest I will get from the ExtraDim labs.
Fnord_Adams looks pissed off!
DrSchmidt sighs.
<Arthur_Addams> Sir, I was assigned to the Amalgam of Dr.Schmidt. So I am in need of the generator, too.
<Fnord_Adams> If you want something from my division, then requisition it. I am not going to give it just like that!
Fnord_Adams grumbles.
<DrSchmidt> I'm sorry if you feel that I take up your time, Dr.Adams...
<Fnord_Adams> Hand me the mission specs, and I will inform you in an hour.
<DrSchmidt> I just want to be this assignment successful.
<Fnord_Adams> Now leave my labs! There is work to be done, and no distractions are needed!
Fnord_Adams starts walking away mumbling about youngsters today having no respect.
Arthur_Addams sighs.
<DrSchmidt> (ironically) Very well. Thanks anyway, Dr.Adams.
<Arthur_Addams> Sometimes he gets upset very easily, as you can see.
DrSchmidt sees that he won't get anywhere, shrugs to Arthur and leaves the lab.
<Storyteller> It seems that Dr.Adams is a problematic fellow. Maybe you should find alternative means to get on his good side. So what will you do now?
<DrSchmidt> (Well, he virtually threw me out, so it doesn't seem wise to insist on anything now.)
<Storyteller> It might be smart to jump to your own division and see what they have down there :)
<DrSchmidt> (ST: As it happens, I was headed there now.)
Arthur_Addams checks if there is enough time left to work on his hardsuit.
<Storyteller> (Yes, but Adams told you to repair it elsewhere.)
<Arthur_Addams> (Where should I go then?)
<Storyteller> (To the robotics labs. You primarily work there. You work in the Q division at some times.)
Arthur_Addams takes his hardsuit and returns to his regular working place to repair his hardsuit.
DrSchmidt walks out of the Q-Division lab, outwardly smiling, but inwardly fuming. He thinks this Construct seems to consist mainly of amateurs. So walks to the ExtraDim labs.
<Storyteller> As you go towards the lift, you notice that your keycard has a new color on it, a stripe of green.
<DrSchmidt> (And what colour coding has the Q Division? Which the ExtrDim Lab?)
<Storyteller> (Q division has yellow. XD has green.)
<DrSchmidt> (ST: Thx)
DrSchmidt raises an eyebrow and walks to the level with the XD Labs.
<Storyteller> (You walk or take the lift?)
DrSchmidt walks. He is annoyed, and some walking should calm him down. And it wasn't too far after all.
<Storyteller> As you are walking down you are almost ran over by a woman running down.
<DrSchmidt> Oops.
<Zatto_Treba> Whoops, sorry!
DrSchmidt frowns at her.
<DrSchmidt> Running downstairs is a bit dangerous, if you don't look properly.
<Zatto_Treba> Oh, I am sorry!
DrSchmidt looks at her. (Description? Does she look like some lab scientist?)
Zatto_Treba is a petite woman with freckles, brown hair and small round glasses. She is actually quite pretty, though a bit unkempt.
<DrSchmidt> (Heh. Unkempt sounds familiar)
Zatto_Treba is wearing an orange jumpsuit that is obviously made of ionic cloth.
<DrSchmidt> (Heh.)
<Zatto_Treba> Ummh, sorry for bumping into you...
<DrSchmidt> Well, never mind. Could it be that you are headed to XD, too?
<Zatto_Treba> Ah, yes.
<DrSchmidt> Great.
Zatto_Treba smiles.
<Zatto_Treba> And you are?
Zatto_Treba bends down to pick up some books she dropped.
<DrSchmidt> I'm Dr.Peter Schmidt and I'm new here. Maybe you could show me to the lab?
<Zatto_Treba> Ahh, you are one of ours?
<DrSchmidt> NSC, yes. I just arrived yesterday.
DrSchmidt smiles at her and decides to help her pick up the stuff that fell down.
Zatto_Treba smiles widely.
<Zatto_Treba> I heard you were coming. I heard you are from a German construct?
<DrSchmidt> Yes. Frankfurt/Main.
Zatto_Treba clumsily drops some of the books on Peter's legs.
DrSchmidt raises an eyebrow and shakes his head in amusement, then he tries to collect the books and put them into an orderly heap.
Zatto_Treba looks sheepishly at the Doc, as he picks up the books.
<DrSchmidt> (dryly) Maybe you should have used a bag.
Zatto_Treba feels caught staring at Pete. She blushes and looks down.
<DrSchmidt> Well, no need anymore. I can carry them for you.
<Zatto_Treba> Uhmm, thanks.
<DrSchmidt> (Her name is on a nametag?)
<Zatto_Treba> I am Zatto.
DrSchmidt smiles at her.
Zatto_Treba blushes even more and looks down, mumbling something about taking him to the lab.
<DrSchmidt> My pleasure, Ms.Zatto
DrSchmidt gathers the books and puts them onto the case of his laptop.
Zatto_Treba walks down.
DrSchmidt thinks that it's a precarious heap, but he tries to manage anyway, and so he follows her carefully, as not to let everything fall down, too.
Zatto_Treba starts chatting about the Construct.
<Zatto_Treba> Uhmm, nothing...
Zatto_Treba whistles.
DrSchmidt chuckles
<DrSchmidt> Heh. Not so fast! I try to get everything down safely, you know.
Zatto_Treba comes to a door lined with a hermetic seal and a green keycard slot.
<Zatto_Treba> You have the card?
<DrSchmidt> Sure. In my pocket..
<Zatto_Treba> I mean...they gave you the card... didn't they? Just put it in and let's go!
Zatto_Treba smiles and stumbles over the words she is obviously saying too fast.
DrSchmidt shakes his head in amusement, it should be quite obvious that he has no hand free at the moment.
<DrSchmidt> Well, either you could take the books or you might fetch the card from my pocket. Right side.
DrSchmidt looks somewhat laden with books.
Zatto_Treba starts towards the pocket but hurriedly takes her hand back and puts her card into the slot. The doors make a sudden whoosh as they open.
DrSchmidt grins inwardly
<Zatto_Treba> Go in. You go first!
DrSchmidt steps through.
<Storyteller> You feel somebodies eyes on your posterior.
DrSchmidt grins inwardly.
<DrSchmidt> Well, where do you want me to put the books?
<Zatto_Treba> Uhmm, anywhere.
DrSchmidt raises an eyebrow in utter amusement
<Zatto_Treba> Welcome to the labs...
<DrSchmidt> Thanks.
<Storyteller> You see that the labs are filled with people in orange jumpsuits working on huge machines, though it isn't all that large. You see a huge device going through the ceiling of this floor and into the next.
DrSchmidt thinks this was quite a contrast program compared to this Q Division idiot.
<DrSchmidt> Hello...
DrSchmidt looks for a fairly empty table.
<Zatto_Treba> Uhmm. Can I help you?
DrSchmidt would love to take a closer look at the surroundings, but first he needs to get rid of his load.
<Zatto_Treba> Supervisor Matthews isn't here currently. I am his assistant, so...
<DrSchmidt> Well, just tell me where I can put all his stuff
DrSchmidt arches his eyebrows.
<Zatto_Treba> Ah.
Zatto_Treba smiles wryly. She takes Pete on a spin around the labs where he see a number of tables filled with gadgets and tinkering.
DrSchmidt's hands itch, he would love to tinker around a bit himself.
Zatto_Treba shows him a table that is completly clear. Right next to it is a small table kept in perfect order with a fresh tulip in a vase.
<Zatto_Treba> Uhmm, this will be your table.
Zatto_Treba points at the empty table.
<DrSchmidt> Great!
DrSchmidt is glad he can finally put the heap of books down.
<Zatto_Treba> If you need anything, just leave me a note here...
Zatto_Treba points to the table next to Pete where the tulip is.
<DrSchmidt> Well, I would be very obliged if you could show me around a little?
Zatto_Treba looks embarrassed.
<Zatto_Treba> Umm, I'll show you around later.
DrSchmidt smiles at her.
<Zatto_Treba> You just look around now. You'll manage.
<DrSchmidt> Hopefully...
DrSchmidt grins
Zatto_Treba wonders off, looking back every 3 seconds or so.
DrSchmidt thinks she's pretty cute.
Storyteller grins
DrSchmidt transfers the books to her table and puts down the laptop on his desk.
<Storyteller> As you stroll around, you see that your suit has changed color of its own accord. It is orange again.
<DrSchmidt> Heh. Well, Ionic Cloth has something. And orange is somewhat reassuring.
<Arthur_Addams> (<-- thinks Dr.Schmidt could use some hormone control mechanism)
<DrSchmidt> (Heh)
<Storyteller> You notice that it is already 17:34. What do you wish to do?
<DrSchmidt> Finally free of all the stuff, I'll stroll a bit through the XD lab. The canteen isn't so far off.
<Storyteller> You see a ton of gadgets you saw everywhere, a small map of England that is being tracked for XD intrusions...
DrSchmidt has to restrain himself to just look around.
<Storyteller> There is a number of personnel checking monitors for possible XD breaches.
DrSchmidt introduces himself to the VEs here.
<Storyteller> They politely say hi and each starts yammering about their new toy: the "Catcherainator 3000"
DrSchmidt looks if someone looks as if he or she was responsible here.
<Storyteller> After asking a few questions you learn that the boss is supervisor Matthews, but he is currently on a mission in the XD realms. Currently his aide Zatto Treba is in charge of the VE matters. They warn you of her being a bit distraught and clumsy.
DrSchmidt grins wryly.
<DrSchmidt> I noticed...
DrSchmidt thinks that otherwise she seemed to be okay, though.
<DrSchmidt> Well, I guess I will return after dinner, folks. I'm very curious about this new toy of yours.
DrSchmidt leaves the lab and is right in far better mood. He definitely prefers to be among people of his own Convention. He steers towards the canteen now.
<Storyteller> As you get there you notice that there aren't many people... It seems that people here come and go and eat whenever they feel like it.
<Storyteller> (Okay, wanna skip to the meeting?)
Niles_Powers is waiting in the canteen with a cup of tea, the times and little snacks.
DrSchmidt goes to the counter and looks for the menue of the day, then he fetches some food and joins Niles.
<Storyteller> (Obviously not :))
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Ehrm, Niles, you prolly ain't here yet)
Arthur_Addams leaves his hardsuit alone, even if it's hard and gets to the canteen.
<DrSchmidt> (LOL)
<Storyteller> (It is around 15 to 19. You can be there.)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (grumble)
<Storyteller> Doc Schmidt took his time in his personal heaven
:)<DrSchmidt> (*g*)
Niles_Powers rolls back the tape then.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (It's okay, just say the elevator broke down or something.)
<DrSchmidt> (Well, the VE guys are far more agreeable than this senile Q-Division guy...)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (What's for dinner then?)
<Storyteller> (Whatever you want.. the canteen serves almost anything)
DrSchmidt will have a steak with pepper cream sauce and French fries.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Anything decent will do. Just today's special.)
Arthur_Addams fetches some fish & chips.
<Storyteller> Okay, so you are all sitting down in the mess hall-
<Niles_Powers> (would like some pasta)
DrSchmidt looks at the others.
<DrSchmidt> So, what did you find out, Mr.Powers, Mr.Pieterszoon?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> First of all, the information we had on the complex is flawed.
<Niles_Powers> The plan we got is incomplete. They got a subbasement in the lab, and the lab is heavily guarded.
<DrSchmidt> Mhm. Did you scan the additional areas?
<Storyteller> (Just a quick note... your mission parameters don't include protection of the labs ;))
<Niles_Powers> We just checked it visually.
<DrSchmidt> I did have an uneasy feeling about the "easy" job.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> And not only is the lab heavily guarded, the building itself is a bunker.
<Arthur_Addams> Sounds rather strange...
<DrSchmidt> (ST: But there could be things in the labs that might want to get out and endanger the scientists!)
<DrSchmidt> Well. Somehow I'm not really surprised.
<Arthur_Addams> (Some bunkers are not made to keep things out, but in.)
<DrSchmidt> (Art: Exactly)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Well, the guards on the outside seemed pretty careful not to let anyone in...as a matter of fact, they were equipped with submachine guns and by that probably breaking a few good old English laws.
<Niles_Powers> I made some corrections there and there in the map, beside the subfloor, nothing really serious.
<DrSchmidt> Hm...
DrSchmidt arches an eyebrow and looks thoughtful.
<Arthur_Addams> So what to do now?
<DrSchmidt> I think we should go about it as planned, just double our attention. I will *definitely* see to it that I will rig up the perimeter scan, too.
<Niles_Powers> So, did you manage to get more devices, Dr.Schmidt?
<DrSchmidt> Mr.Powers, I didn't have any success with the Q Division, but I will return to my people after dinner and set something up.
<Niles_Powers> k
<DrSchmidt> Mr.Pieterszoon or Mr.Powers - is it possible to inform some mundane police force to stand at the ready?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Hey, now you're talking...
Jan_Pieterszoon grabs his phone and dials his contact at Interpol (it's not too late yet).
<Arthur_Addams> Perhaps we could charge up the fence with electricity?
<DrSchmidt> Well, Dr.Addams, you saw my plan, didn't you? That's exactly what I had in mind.
<Arthur_Addams> If you wish I can lend you a helping hand in building and rigging.
<DrSchmidt> Dr.Addams, I would be very happy if you could help me on that.
<Arthur_Addams> Very good Dr.Schmidt... Let's make things better.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (ST: I dial my contact at Interpol (since it's around 19:00 GMT, it should be still time to catch him at work.)
<Storyteller> okay
<Niles_Powers> I would recommand to avoid electrifying the fence, that would be very obvious and dangerous.
<Arthur_Addams> As for the mundane police... We still do not know what's down there.
<DrSchmidt> Well, I don't want them to crawl over the place right away, just be alarmed so that they can join us if anything happens.
<Storyteller> (private message)
<DrSchmidt> Mr.Powers, I will use it as antenna for a general perimeter surveillance.
DrSchmidt nods towards Mr.Addams and smiles at him.
<Niles_Powers> Whatever you decide, you are the field leader.
<DrSchmidt> Mr.Powers: Thank you.
<Arthur_Addams> We do not have to put a deadly dose of electricity on the fence...
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (ST: I make another call to another contact)
<Storyteller> (Who?)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (London Exchange fella)
<DrSchmidt> Well, Dr.Addams, we need to energize the fence so that it can work as an antenna array.
<Arthur_Addams> Yes... I think this should not be too difficult.
<DrSchmidt> I will have to check with Ms.Treba from the XD Lab, if you can get the clearance to get in there.
<Arthur_Addams> Yes. We would need some parts to build the necessary equipment.
<DrSchmidt> Exactly.
<Arthur_Addams> I will ask my main division for clearances and parts, too.
<DrSchmidt> This would be very good. If you don't get along with the XD clearance, I can still ask Ms.Treba.
<Arthur_Addams> Hmmm... XD is not my cup of tea...
<DrSchmidt> Well, at least there I get the support I need. You witnessed the problems Dr.Adams posed.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (me wonders if you need Drive to be able to drive like a normal person?)
<Storyteller> (yes)
DrSchmidt munches his steak.
<Arthur_Addams> At least I think I will be able to get some electronics needed.
<DrSchmidt> Well, do you have some further suggestions based on your findings?
Arthur_Addams eats his fish & chips.
<DrSchmidt> This sounds good, Dr.Addams.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Sorry, people, I have to catch my flight to London. Be back tomorrow, please call me only if it's a real emergency. I may have some more information on DNA Amalgamated when I return.
<DrSchmidt> Very well, Mr.Pieterszoon.
<Storyteller> You notice that Pieterszoon looks very happy... blissuful even.
DrSchmidt raises an eyebrow.
<Arthur_Addams> Hmm... Seems to have gotten some happy news.
<Storyteller> (or an invitation to a high society orgy ;))
<Storyteller> Okay, so what are your plans?
<DrSchmidt> (I suspected he'd be a lecher.)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Finally a chance to do what I do best... (and I'm not a lecher)
<Niles_Powers> (tsk)
<Arthur_Addams> (Those are happy news, aren't they? ;) )
<Storyteller> Jan needs to pack, so you should hurry with planning.
DrSchmidt wanted to go back to the XD lab.
<Storyteller> (of course ;))
DrSchmidt needs to see to get XD lab clearance for Dr.Addams (but not the senile fool)
Arthur_Addams finishes his meal.
DrSchmidt finishes his steak and ponders to get a mousse au chocolat as dessert.
<Storyteller> (Unfortunately, only puddings are for dessert this evening... Mousse au chocoloat are at Fridays.)
<Storyteller> As you eat your meal up, Dr.Schmidt, you get a message on your communicator that there has been a delivery on your door.
DrSchmidt decides to forgo the dessert.
<DrSchmidt> Please excuse me, I need to check on something.
DrSchmidt stands up.
<DrSchmidt> I think we shall meet again tomorrow at 8:00.
Arthur_Addams nods.
<DrSchmidt> Dr.Addams, please try to get this clearance. Otherwise call me at 20:00
<Arthur_Addams> I will do my best, Dr.Schmidt.
<DrSchmidt> Very well.
DrSchmidt smiles.
<DrSchmidt> Well, good night then, Mr.Powers, Mr.Pieterszoom (is he still there?)
<Niles_Powers> Good night, Dr.Schmidt.
<DrSchmidt> Be seeing you tomorrow for breakfast here.
<Arthur_Addams> I'll call you if I can't get the clearance.
DrSchmidt ponders a moment.
<DrSchmidt> Well, Dr.Addams, I think you should call me anyway. We have some work to do tonight.
<Arthur_Addams> As you wish. At 2000?
<DrSchmidt> Yes, Dr.Addams.
<Arthur_Addams> You will get my call. I'm looking forward to work with you, Dr.Schmidt.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> !dice 6
<agww-dice> Jan_Pieterszoon rolls the dice and gets the following results: 5 8 8 4 1 4
<Jan_Pieterszoon> 2 suxx on Finance.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> !dice 2
<agww-dice> Jan_Pieterszoon rolls the dice and gets the following results: 10 3
DrSchmidt puts away the dirty dishes onto the conveyor belt and returns to the XD lab.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> 1 sux
<Storyteller> (What about the package waiting for you?)
<DrSchmidt> ST: Oops, aktually I wanted to go there first, of course! That's why I wanted to wait till 20:00 for Addams to contact me, after all... (Pete is a bit scatterbrained, too, at times ^_^)
DrSchmidt goes to his quarters.
<Storyteller> As you open the door, you find a hexagonal box.
<DrSchmidt> (Any sender address?)
<Storyteller> It is branded with the Technocracy symbol, and a small white envelope is on it - and a tulip...
DrSchmidt raises his eyebrow. Now really curious, he opens the envelope.
<Storyteller> "I heard you needed one of these... Please bring it back in working condition. And don't let that nasty Adams get you down... Zatto Treba"
DrSchmidt smiles and checks whether there is an intern phone number listed for Ms.Treba.
<Storyteller> Yes, there is. There is the office one, and the room one.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (And you can bet your ass it's tapped.)
<Storyteller> (Actually, only if you say one of the keywords.)
Arthur_Addams goes to his main division after his meal, looking to get the clearances for him to XD and for his division for Dr.Schmidt.
DrSchmidt ponders a moment, thinks that this ...delivery looks not fully official and phones Zatto Treba's personal room.
<Zatto_Treba> Yes?
<DrSchmidt> Dr.Schmidt here.
Zatto_Treba sounds happy.
<Zatto_Treba> You got it?
<DrSchmidt> Yes. I wanted to thank you for the nice 'welcome present'.
<Zatto_Treba> Uhmm, it is not a welcome present. I heard you needed that. I just wanted to help you get along here.
<DrSchmidt> Well, that's true. You are very resourceful.
<Zatto_Treba> I know you are new, and I heard Adams yelled at you...
DrSchmidt sighs.
<DrSchmidt> You could say that...
<Zatto_Treba> He yelled at me when I first met him. He is a bit nasty. But you know... I wanted to ask... Ahm... Uhm...
<DrSchmidt> What do you want to ask?
<Zatto_Treba> I don't want to sound wrong or something... But would you join me for breakfast tomorrow?
DrSchmidt arches an eyebrow
<DrSchmidt> Hm. Tomorrow... It depends on the time. I have a meeting scheduled at 8:00.
<Zatto_Treba> Ahhh... The mess hall is open all night! I probably won't be sleeping... Are you up for an early breakfast?
<DrSchmidt> Well, I fear I have to pull an all-nighter, too.
DrSchmidt discovers that he is in a pretty good mood. Obviously there are at least some agreeable people here in the Construct.
<DrSchmidt> How early would you suggest?
<Zatto_Treba> Ummm, when do you want to have breakfast? I can take a break at almost any time.
<DrSchmidt> Well, 7:00 sounds okay for me. Then I have time to put together the device I have in mind.
<Zatto_Treba> Okay, see you tomorrow!
Zatto_Treba sounds too happy.
<Zatto_Treba> Bye! Good night!!
DrSchmidt shakes his head.
<DrSchmidt> Now that was a bit fast - I didn't even manage to say goodbye...
DrSchmidt looks thoughtfully at his comlink.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (I take it everyone is going to call it a day?)
DrSchmidt chuckles and unpacks the package.
<DrSchmidt> (Well, I will definitely get into the lab now and put together the device.)
<Storyteller> You see that it is a XD-354 Dimensional intrusion array. A scanner that analyzes a given area for intrusion from the dimensions... and it can also be hooked up to a standard scanning array.
<Arthur_Addams> (I will try to get the clearances.)
<DrSchmidt> (I don't need to play that, but I *will* have rigged together this thingy tomorrow! One way or the other...)
<Arthur_Addams> (I will help ,if I can)
DrSchmidt grins happily at the sight of the device.
<Storyteller> (Actually just what you were wanting :))
DrSchmidt decides that he definitely has to find some nice present for Ms.Treba.
<Storyteller> (Okay, you want to stop, to continue, or just to roleplay each of the characters' nights and stop afterwards?)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Hmmm... My night... Hmmmzz... Okay...)
<Arthur_Addams> (What about the clearances?)
<DrSchmidt> (Well, if you just say it's okay, and I can rig together some stuff that I'll specify, I will do that off-time. But I will certainly not miss the breakfast! *g*)
<Niles_Powers> (Nothing special here.)
<Storyteller> Okay, do you want to play more, or no?
<DrSchmidt> (Art: Well, Ms.Treba was too fast for me, LOL)
DrSchmidt wouldn't mind to continue. He doesn't have to get up early tomorrow.
<Storyteller> I am asking because dingo was commenting something. - Are you all up for some more?
DrSchmidt is.
<Niles_Powers> (good to go here)
DrSchmidt will probably get himself a huge can of coffee for the night and tinker with his toys.)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (I'm good for a little more. Insomnia is hard, but it has its advantages.)
<Arthur_Addams> (I can take up some more too)
<Storyteller> Okay, it is obvious. Niles goes to bed early...
<Niles_Powers> he
<Storyteller> ...and has nice dreams of green pastures.
<Niles_Powers> zzzzzzzzz
<Storyteller> Jan has just landed in London and is being picked up by a limo. Arthur and Doc Schmidt are currently tinkering in the labs.
<Storyteller> (start :))
<DrSchmidt> (Let Jan or Arti start ^_^)
DrSchmidt has some serious work to do.
<Storyteller> Arthur is going to assist you, remember?
Arthur_Addams comes into the lab and looks around.
<DrSchmidt> (ST if he got the clearance?)
<DrSchmidt> (What's with the other VEs?
<Storyteller> (You let him in. You don't think you'd have any problems with Zatto Treba ;))
Storyteller changes topic to 'The Technocracy UK game... Friday 20:00 CET... "When in doubt, use a larger scanner array..."
<DrSchmidt> (Hehe. More power, Scotty!)
<Arthur_Addams> (It's not about the size of the array, but the technique used. ;) )
<Storyteller> (Actually it seems to me that we are going much more into freeform than normal :))
<DrSchmidt> (BTW, how many of the other VEs are still there?)
<Storyteller> (Maybe 5 or 6)
<DrSchmidt> (Ok.)
<Storyteller> Most of the helpers have called it a day.
DrSchmidt sits at his desk. His assortment of tools is scattered over the table and the scanner lies in between. A couple of spare parts and scraps lay around.
<Storyteller> You want to do exactly what?
Arthur_Addams calls Dr.Schmidt.
DrSchmidt answers the phone.
<Arthur_Addams> Hello Dr.Schmidt. Dr.Addams here.
<DrSchmidt> (ST: Ok. I need to set up a transceiver array and a monitor unit that I can patch all the data together.)
<Storyteller> Okay, you'll need to connect them. You'll need three rolls: 1st Int + Eng to conceptualize; 2nd Int + Computers to link them; 3rd Int + Engineering to make it all clap together.
<DrSchmidt> Engineering? I have HyperTech, Technology, Jury-Rig and Research ^_^
<Arthur_Addams> (Wait for me ;))
<DrSchmidt> (Art: Sure)
<DrSchmidt> Well, Dr.Addams, I *am* waiting for you...
<Storyteller> 4th Arete roll: Dimensonal Science 1 / Correspondence 1. Use Hypertech for conceptualization. There will be no retries - and what you end up, you will be convinced will work.
<Arthur_Addams> I could gather some electronic parts, but no clearances.
<DrSchmidt> Art: Well, I hope they won't rip off my head when I'll let you in.
DrSchmidt nods. Modifier for Electronical Aptitude? And Computer Aptitude?
<Storyteller> Just roll. I know your wonderful merits
<DrSchmidt> (ST: I'm *always* convinced that my devices do work! Even though Pete doesn't have the Overconfident Flaw ^_^)
<DrSchmidt> 1.
<DrSchmidt> !dice 6
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 6 1 8 3 6 6
<Storyteller> (Ouch! You don't have any idea how to put it all together...)
<Arthur_Addams> (Ehmm... Am I in with Schmidt, or is it just time for the phone call?)
<DrSchmidt> (Art: I think you should be there to by now)
<Storyteller> (You are inside.)
<Arthur_Addams> (How can I support Dr.Schmidt?)
<Storyteller> You see that he is looking annoyed because he has problems designing the thing.
<DrSchmidt> Hm. Dr.Addams. I fear I need your help.
<Storyteller> (23:45)
<DrSchmidt> You see... I wanted to do this...and that...
DrSchmidt outlines the general plan.
<Arthur_Addams> So what is it, Dr.Schmidt? Let me have a look at it.
DrSchmidt shows Addams the problem.
<DrSchmidt> (A heap of parts)
Arthur_Addams studies the plans and looks at the parts.
<Storyteller> (Perception + Hypertech)
<Arthur_Addams> !dice 5
<agww-dice> Arthur_Addams rolls the dice and gets the following results: 7 9 6 2 4
<Storyteller> (Okay, you realize that this is supposed to connect to each other. You have just taken Schmidt's blueprints and started working them over.)
<DrSchmidt> So, could you give me a hint, Dr.Addams?
<Storyteller> (Int + Hypertech)
<Arthur_Addams> Yes... Yes... Very interesting. Now let's see how things work out...
<Arthur_Addams> !dice 5
<agww-dice> Arthur_Addams rolls the dice and gets the following results: 9 3 4 7 3
<Storyteller> (You have found a way to connect them. Unfortunately, it will require a lot of wiring and it will be immobile.)
<DrSchmidt> (If he tells me, I should be able to add my tinkering expertise again.)
<Storyteller> (Next phase)
<Storyteller> 00:23
<Arthur_Addams> We could work it out. Let's see. If we connect those parts... I fear it will be immobile, for the wires needed could make it unstable.
DrSchmidt is very glad that Dr.Addams joined the team.
<DrSchmidt> Hm... You are right.
DrSchmidt frowns deeply and ponders if there is a more elegant solution.
Arthur_Addams seems deep into this work.. Even though it isn't his beloved hardsuit.
<DrSchmidt> (So... Any possibility to improve on the initial concept?)
<Storyteller> (If you want to try and redo the concept you may. Diff will be 9 now (with modifiers) and it will take more time). After the concept you will not be able to afford my retries.)
<DrSchmidt> (Int+HyperTech?)
<Storyteller> (Yep.)
<DrSchmidt> Hm...
DrSchmidt looks at Dr.Addams.
<Arthur_Addams> Do you think there is a better solution?
<DrSchmidt> I might be able to improve it a bit. But it's risky. If my idea won't work out, we can scrap the array.
<Arthur_Addams> Now what is it? 'No risk, no fun' or 'Better safe than sorry'?
DrSchmidt invests 1 WP
<DrSchmidt> !dice 6
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 5 8 8 1 4 9
<Storyteller> (And there is a certain perky VE that shouldn't be dissapointed.)
<DrSchmidt> (1 sux with WP)
<Storyteller> (You managed to get rid of the bulkier of wires... It will not be that obvious and it will be less exposed.)
<Storyteller> 00:45
DrSchmidt wipes a bead of sweat from his forehead.
<Arthur_Addams> Yes. You're right. That looks even better.
<DrSchmidt> I wonder why I didn't see that before!
<Arthur_Addams> Perhaps we wanted to skip too many steps at once...
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Is this the device the girl VE gave you?)
<Storyteller> (yes)
<DrSchmidt> (Jan: Yeah. We're ...improving on it.)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Didn't she say she wanted it back intact?)
DrSchmidt nods.
<DrSchmidt> You are right.
<Storyteller> (Pete is not changing the device, he is merely connecting it to a system.)
<DrSchmidt> (ST: A botch could still short it out ^_^)
<DrSchmidt> (Jan: Sure. But I think we should take all precautions we can take.)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Actually, at the moment I'd rather have some BFGs at hand.)
<Arthur_Addams> So, what's next? Let's see.
<Storyteller> Okay, I want a Stamina roll from each of you now
:)<Arthur_Addams> !dice 2
<agww-dice> Arthur_Addams rolls the dice and gets the following results: 10 1
<DrSchmidt> !dice 2
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 5 5
DrSchmidt yawns and looks for the coffee.
<Storyteller> (Arthur, you are starting to feel sleepy. +1 diff to all actions with fine precision.)
Arthur_Addams yawns widely.
<Arthur_Addams> Any coffee around?
<Storyteller> (Schmidt, you are a it sleepy but nothing special.)
DrSchmidt looks at Art.
<DrSchmidt> Some more coffee, Dr.Addams?
Arthur_Addams nods
<Storyteller> (00:47 - Phase 2)
<DrSchmidt> (0:47 and we feel sleepy? Are we wimps???)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Hmm, I always thought that Techies drank too much of their own brand of cola.)
<Storyteller> (Schmidt, you are still under jetlag. Be lucky I'm keeping you alive...)
<DrSchmidt> (ST: hehe)
DrSchmidt pours Addams a huge mug.
<Arthur_Addams> Do you have milk and sugar?
<DrSchmidt> Only milk, no sugar, sorry.
<Arthur_Addams> Ok. Then could you please pass me the milk, Dr.Schmidt?
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Ehrm, ST - he doesn't have a jet lag. He went TO the UK from the US. Only the other way around he'd have a jet lag.)
<DrSchmidt> (And I slept in the plane and chopper...)
<Storyteller> (Coffee works for the first round when you get sleepy... After that the diff just goes up. Only Technocratic drinks can help, if someone can brew them. :) And Redraven is now too taken by a beautiful girl and her amazing dexterity in bed...)
<Arthur_Addams> (What about being sure-handed? ;) )
DrSchmidt passes Addams the milk...
Arthur_Addams pours a lot of milk into his mug and drinks some of his coffee.
<Storyteller> (Okay start with Phase 2. Int + Engineering to make it all work.
<DrSchmidt> (ST: No Jury-rig?)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Ehrm, isn't jury-rigging coming up with temporary devices?)
<DrSchmidt> (Jan: Well, this is supposed to work for tomorrow. We don't want to install it permanetly.)
<Storyteller> (Yep. And it is dangerous to use it with this equipment. Jury-rig can screw it up big time.)
DrSchmidt sighs.
<Arthur_Addams> What is it?
<DrSchmidt> (Art: Int+Engineering)
<Storyteller> (But you can try. Jury-rig requires more successes to be as functional as something done with Engineering, but if you want to try it you have to roll first.)
<DrSchmidt> (ST: As I don't have Engineering, I'll go for that - I have Technology, HyperTech, Research and JR, after all...)
<Arthur_Addams> Should I try to make it work?
<DrSchmidt> Art: Well... Just don't ruin it, will you?
<Arthur_Addams> I will do my best as usual
<Storyteller> (Okay, let Schmidt try first)
DrSchmidt rolls Int+JR.
<DrSchmidt> !dice 7
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 9 3 6 8 10 7 8
<Storyteller> (Okay. You made it work. Barely, but it seems a bit unconvincing.)
<Arthur_Addams> (Can I check to make it better?)
<Storyteller> (Try. Int+Eng)
DrSchmidt hmms.
<Storyteller> (01:34)
<DrSchmidt> (At least *he* has Engineering...)
<Arthur_Addams> !dice 6
<agww-dice> Arthur_Addams rolls the dice and gets the following results: 6 2 9 10 6 4
DrSchmidt looks at the watch. 5 hours to go.
<Storyteller> (You manage to make it work... after a fashion.)
<DrSchmidt> Heh.
<Storyteller> (02:02)
<Arthur_Addams> This looks somewhat better, don't you think?
<DrSchmidt> Definitely! I'm really glad you're up to help me here.
<Storyteller> (It isn't 100% working, but it'll work... most of the time. You notice that it will need a large supply of energy. You need to remember to take cables to connect it to the electricity network of the DNA complex.)
<Arthur_Addams> Thank you. It's a pleasure to work with you, too, Dr.Schmidt.
<DrSchmidt> Well.
DrSchmidt will see whether it isn't possible to improve it.
<Storyteller> Roll Stamina.
<DrSchmidt> !dice 2
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 9 3
<Storyteller> Okay, you are okay :)
<Arthur_Addams> !dice 2
<agww-dice> Arthur_Addams rolls the dice and gets the following results: 5 2
<Storyteller> Arthur, you are starting to feel tired.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (me is really freaked out by that last comment of the ST. That happened before in another game with freaky techies (not Mage))
<DrSchmidt> Ok. I'll try to improve it and invest 1 WP on Int+JR)
<Storyteller> Wait!
<DrSchmidt> !dice 7
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 4 10 10 10 5 3 1
<DrSchmidt> Hah. If that shouldn't do it...
<Storyteller> Wait a sec... What was this meant for?
<DrSchmidt> Well, to improve on the last attempts. Fine tuning.
<Storyteller> Ummm. I'd leave that for later if I were you. Are you certain you want to do it now?
<DrSchmidt> Well, if I can keep that roll?
DrSchmidt looks quizzically at the ST
<Storyteller> You can keep the roll, if you choose now. You can't keept it, if you choose later.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> It's just 2 10's left :)
<DrSchmidt> Ok. Then I'll keep it
<Storyteller> Okay, Stamina both of you.
<Storyteller> (diff 7 now)
<DrSchmidt> !dice 2
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 9 7
DrSchmidt is very determined to finish this thing.
<Arthur_Addams> !dice 2
<agww-dice> Arthur_Addams rolls the dice and gets the following results: 4 4
<Storyteller> (Ouch. As you are working on the power supply you notice that you managed to make it work on a normal power supply available in any household. But next to you, you see a sleeping Dr.Addams and a blinking watch that says it is 03:40.)
DrSchmidt beams and is very satisfied with himself.
Arthur_Addams snores.
DrSchmidt sighs.
<DrSchmidt> (So what's left?)
<Storyteller> (Programming and connecting it all in a working array. And some Arete :) 2 x Int + Computer.)
<DrSchmidt> Ok. Int+Comp and then Arete.
<DrSchmidt> !dice 5
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 8 5 3 5 9
<Storyteller> Ok, it seems that you have a software that could run them together.
DrSchmidt pours himself another big mug of coffee
<Storyteller> Stamina
<DrSchmidt> 1 WP on Stamina
<DrSchmidt> !dice 2
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 4 6
<Storyteller> (You spent 3 Willpower.)
DrSchmidt nods.
<DrSchmidt> (I have 8 WP)
<Storyteller> (Okay, you manage to stay up only through the effort.)
<Storyteller> (04:34)
<Storyteller> Second Int + Computer
<DrSchmidt> !dice 5
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 8 6 4 3 10
<Storyteller> (Okay, it'll work. It seems that you have a connected system that will connect to some monitors, but still there seem to be some problems with reliability.)
<Storyteller> (05:14)
<Storyteller> Extended Arete roll to make it work. Roll double your Arete.
<DrSchmidt> (Do I have some kind of alarm clock or can I set the phone to sound a wake-up call?)
<Storyteller> (Yes, you can :))
DrSchmidt sets the phone to 6:30 and let is ring *repeatedly*
<Storyteller> (Stamina before the Arete roll though.)
<DrSchmidt> !dice 2
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 1 7
<DrSchmidt> LOL. *snore*
<Storyteller> Ouch, a botch...
<DrSchmidt> (I guess the Arete roll has to wait until morning.)
<Storyteller> (You just realized that you are walking through your device, wondering at how it works...and then you hear your mother screaming... and you hear the watch ringing. Addams is also up.)
<Storyteller> (6:30)
<Storyteller> (Schmidt, Stamina)
<DrSchmidt> !dice 2
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 8 10
DrSchmidt sighs in relief.
<Storyteller> (Okay, try to make it work - and mark a bruised bashing level...)
Arthur_Addams looks around confused.
<DrSchmidt> !dice 4
<agww-dice> DrSchmidt rolls the dice and gets the following results: 2 10 2 5
<Storyteller> (Heureka! It managed to recognize the beings that are enclosed on the other side. - It works!)
<Storyteller> (06:56)
DrSchmidt runs (err, shuffles...) to the canteen.
<Storyteller> (Addams, do you go and grab some sleep?)
<Arthur_Addams> (Ehmm... The meeting was appointed at 8:00? So I guess it is no use.)
Arthur_Addams walks out with Dr.Schmidt and checks if his hardsuit is ok.
DrSchmidt is pretty much deranged and really looks a bit tired, but he still walks into the canteen and looks for Ms.Treba.
<Storyteller> Okay, I am not going to storytell a wonderful breakfast with an overtly happy perky VE :)
<DrSchmidt> (Hehe)
<Storyteller> I will have to also tell what happend to Jan last night :)
<DrSchmidt> (ST: Sure. But note that I didn't miss my date
:-)<Jan_Pieterszoon> (I wonder what she sees in Dr.Schmidt. Must be his...wonderful "mind"...)
<Arthur_Addams> (Dr.Schmidt, the heartbreaker)
<DrSchmidt> (Jan: Pah. That's pure envy!)
<Storyteller> (Jan, you got off the limo in front of a skyscraper. You were escorted to the Penthouse, and there your broker met with you and introduced you to two voluptuous damsels named Amanda and Cindy. Amanda and Cindy weren't gifted in the brain department, but they had all you and Jack needed...)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> Hehe. (So they are both called Jack?)
<Storyteller> (as soon rose and you realised you just spent another night as a real Syndicate opeartive. Stoned, and worn out that is...)
<DrSchmidt> (LOL)
<Storyteller> (At least you learned that DNA is a privately owned concern among a number of scientist worldwide. They are all conneced with genetics. Some of the names you heard rang a bell in your head... but the ringer in the bell was taken by Amanda... or was it Cindy?)
Jan_Pieterszoon smiles.
<Storyteller> (Somwhere around 07:00 you were cleaned up on a plane back to Birmingham, snoozing and smiling contentedly.)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Actually this stuff doesn't do much to him. He finds it a necessary evil.)
<Storyteller> Niles Powers on the other hand slept really well last night... And now it is time to end for tonight.
<DrSchmidt> Hehe
<Storyteller> Jan has 1 additional Willpower...
Niles_Powers chuckles.
DrSchmidt desperately needs some wake-up pills or stuff ^_^
<Storyteller> ...as does Niles.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Unfortunately I haven't spent any...)
<Storyteller> And Schmidt also regains one after the exhilarating rendezvous with the perky assistant supervisor :)
<DrSchmidt> *smile*
<DrSchmidt> (Still two down...)
<Storyteller> But about the time you ended your breakfast, you realized you had to be in the conference room.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (I take it that the names that ringed a bell were those that are also on the guest-list?)
Zatto_Treba has joined #agww
<DrSchmidt> ^_^
<Zatto_Treba> ...and that is how he jumped off!
<Storyteller> (No, it was something else. You can't quite put a finger on it, but you heard some of those names somewhere.)
<Storyteller> Roll me an intelligence
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Mind 1 effect, where did I hear them?)
<Storyteller> And then we had to clean up...
<Jan_Pieterszoon> !dice 3
<agww-dice> Jan_Pieterszoon rolls the dice and gets the following results: 1 6 5
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (That's Int...)
<Storyteller> (It won't work... you were too wrecked)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> !dice 2
<agww-dice> Jan_Pieterszoon rolls the dice and gets the following results: 4 2
<Storyteller> Okay, you cannot remember, but you are sure you saw them somewhere.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Mind 1 effect)
<Jan_Pieterszoon> That would work...for 1 success.
<Storyteller> (Nope. You were too wrecked to remember everything that happened last night correctly.)
<DrSchmidt> (Hehe)
<Storyteller> You will probably remember later... and roll me a Stamina check.
<Jan_Pieterszoon> !dice 2
<agww-dice> Jan_Pieterszoon rolls the dice and gets the following results: 3 5
<Jan_Pieterszoon> (Big hangover, or still stoned...)
DrSchmidt wonders if Ms.Treba wouldn't know where to get some energy drink ^_^
Arthur_Addams ponders over how to make hardsuits better, before he gets to the conference room.
<Storyteller> Okay, I want to take a break now...
<DrSchmidt> (The ST botched his Stamina roll?)
Storyteller is done for tonight.
Session Close: Sat Feb 22 01:55:21 2003
