<La_ST> Last time we finished, we managed to get out of some really dire straits, but not without losses to health and material...

<La_ST> The group fled the area of the Temple (may it rest in pieces) and flew towards a very beautiful landscape...

<La_ST> There was no sign left of the pursuers when they decides to go down in the Southern Andes, in Eastern Chile about 5 days later

<La_ST> The group had a marvellous sight at a cone shapes mountain which had a tip that looked like iced over with powdered sugar...

<La_ST> Only a small streak of smoke rose from the tip -

<La_ST> until it suddenly exploded without any warning.

<La_ST> An ear shattering explosion could be heard even in the insides of the transport vehicles...

<La_ST> (Okay - who is where now? There were about 5 days to rearrange things, do some preliminary repairs (partly in the air) and stuff

<Lady_Samantha> after treating the humans, I go off with Rhi to work on her repairs

Nathan_Raiser is still limping a bit but is trying to walk around the place as much as possible... he needs to work out so that he keeps on his feet

<Lady_Samantha> Sam is taking Rhi to study the Science! needed to repair her properly as well as learning the language of the Creators

<La_ST> (Ok. But you realize pretty soon that this tech is very alien and you have never seen such circuitry before)

<Lady_Samantha> We worked out that she can use her skills to act as a teaching machine and coorinate with my memory buffer apparatus to insure proper storage of the ideas and information

<La_ST> (The stuff looks like some intriguing mazes of plastikes, metals and light - and you can't really make any sense of it so far)

<Lady_Samantha> hmms

<Lady_Samantha> (maybe int+enigmas?)

<La_ST> (But the stuff is totally alien in design and it is based on principles you have never heard of before)

<La_ST> (It might be quantum gravitiy transitors and hyperinpotronical circuitry...)

<Lady_Samantha> well being a Scientist! one should be open to new theoryas and new ways of looking at the world(s)

<La_ST> (Sam: Hm. Imagine you are a renaisance scientist and view a computer mainboard)

<Lady_Samantha> (ok - but that scientist doesn't have access to a teaching machine from which to learn basics (in the alien tech) (rather a tech manual in softcopy+language skills in creator;s language to be able to use it)

<La_ST> (But you shouldremember that alien minds might not be so easily comprehensible even with a tech manual)

<La_ST> (You might want to read Poul Anderson's Starfarers in that Respect)

<Lady_Samantha> I figured int+enigmas gives her a shot at intuiting the concepts rather than linear learning

<Lady_Samantha> given that Rhi is a protocol andrioid she knowedgable to interpreting/translating

Lady_Samantha wanted to learn about your construction (from a pseudo-medical viewpoint) (thinking a tech manual = description of physical workings in a living entity)

<Lady_Samantha> I was hoping to learn your native langage, both because it would help in learning about you, and being a linguist new languages interest me

Rhiannon_D offers to attempt to download the information on her design to any compatible media...

<Rhiannon_D> That would also help you with the understanding of our language...

<Lady_Samantha> I thought perhaps something similar to what you did to learn english, but in the other direction, filtered thru my buffer device to eliminate data overrunb/underrun

<Rhiannon_D> I'd highly recommend avoiding direct brain transfer, even with safety measures, since the amount of data is quite large...

<Rhiannon_D> Still, we can attempt to use any other computing devices available...

<La_ST> (Well, you can but try, but the result is doubtfull as the data is probably in a very alien encryption scheme, and you don't know about the alien transfer encoding, bit rate etc)

<Lady_Samantha> (Or do I need to take her back to my complex with its mainframe?)

<Nathan_Raiser> (let alone alien logic...)

Rhiannon_D picks up a calculator from a nearby desk, and focuses, translating her schematics to acceptable input to the device.

<La_ST> (Sam: You have problem to guestimate what exactly you will get from Rhi...)

Rhiannon_D looks at the calculator with somewhat glassy eyes, and procures something looking like a snake tongue from her right thumb, which connects to the calculator.

<La_ST> (Her circuitry is unlike anything you have ever seen before)

<Lady_Samantha> (a probe I'd guess)

Rhiannon_D watches with a grimace as the calculator seems to be stuck displaying 42 for a few seconds, before the LCD display goes totally black.

<Lady_Samantha> hmm I have an idea -- I have scans of how you were undamaged

Rhiannon_D sighs, putting down the calculator.

Rhiannon_D nods

<Rhiannon_D> But Samantha, I have sucessfully managed to repair most of the system damage dealt during the combat.

<Lady_Samantha> I could take a scan of you know, then use my transmodular to restore the original condition (reading m/f/p - repairing m2/p2)

<Rhiannon_D> I am almost back to my state during my wake-up, apart from some minor shell damage.

<Rhiannon_D> Yes, you can do that.

<La_ST> (Um. I don't think Rhi would risk that - if you didn't scan everything properly she might be toast and gone forever)

<Rhiannon_D> But I would recommend that you avoid anything that doesn't belong to the external shell..

<Rhiannon_D> I can pinpoint those changes on your scan, If you can display it to me..

<Lady_Samantha> I take my tricoder and do a scan m/f/p and then have the device display the deltas between the two scans

<Lady_Samantha> (the intent is to restore her to how she was in the temple)

Rhiannon_D nods, and only indicates parts and diferrences between the scans that belong to her external "coating's" components

<Lady_Samantha> I display the actual scans for Rhi also

Nathan_Raiser limps throug hthe ship using a makeshift crutch, roughly welded to support himself... he seems to be looking somewhere into the distance...

<Lady_Samantha> I take my transmodulator generic repair apparatus and feed the remaining deltas 9after Rhi edited them) into the apparatus

Bill_Irvine is his plane, still working and checking what has to be done and what is working again

Himiko follows Nathan around on board of her ship...

<La_ST> (Sam you realize when you apply the change that there is something about Rhi's structure that is so alien that you apparutus can't reproduce it

<La_ST> (Rhi: You feel that your outher hull loses its proper composition. Some of your original crystalline superstructure underlying the skin is replaced by a different and not fitting structure

<Rhiannon_D> Eh? What is going on?

<La_ST> (You can heal this yourself the usual way as you know how you should be - but the dents etc will stay the same for now)

<Rhiannon_D> Hm. I detect some structural anomallies in the surface patterns..

<La_ST> (Sam: You garnered 3dots Paradox - Highest Sphere +1, I think)

<Rhiannon_D> Well, It's ok Samantha, perhaps the technology isn't compatible enough.

<Rhiannon_D> Don't worry, I can manually repair this damage, in due time..

<Himiko> (The entire front of the ship is one entire window)

Rev_Jones is fixing the broken displays in the cockpit of Bill's plane.

Himiko heads to the bridge and looks outside the moment she hears the explosion..

<La_ST> (you are about 20km away from the volcano, and when you look outside you see the tip has been blasted off)

<Lady_Samantha> oh my goodness

<Bill_Irvine> Great you're helping me out, Rev...

Bill_Irvine is even smoking a cigar now while repairing

<La_ST> A monumental cloud of thick, greyish black smoke erupts skywards, and boms and lapilli shoot gleaming organge red into the sky

<Rev_Jones> Well, I guess I helped make some of it.

Rhiannon_D accidentally lets loose an erratic, short-ranged subsonic wave as the explosion goes off, one she was going to use as an example of her language to show to Samantha..

<Rev_Jones> Besides, I am curious ...

<Bill_Irvine> Curious about what?

<Himiko> (intercom) Gentlethings, at the moment we are witness of a vulcanic eruption of immense strength...

<La_ST> Sam: You suddenly feel a surge of fear that you can't explain where it came from

<Rev_Jones> Well, I think it is safe to say I am curious about most things.

Lady_Samantha reacts

Rev_Jones sits on a quiet bit of board and pats it.

<Rhiannon_D> Samantha?

Rhiannon_D puts a hand in her mouth, realizing what happened.

Himiko takes a noteblock and starts writing..

<Bill_Irvine> (How much do we get of the eruption? Do we notice it down in the B52?)

<Rev_Jones> But I want to see the ins... What in Heaven's Name????

Rhiannon_D runs up towards her and hugs her, whispering something in her ear, but making no sound...

<La_ST> (Himiko: On the scanner you can read a metallic object that erupts from the volcano, too. It seems to be shielded with an energy field that gives quite some blips on your scanners

<La_ST> (Bill: You get them same , Nate from Skywarp, too)

<Lady_Samantha> we walk to the bed and sit

<Rev_Jones> (Where *are* we? Are we in the air?)

<Himiko> (yes)

<Himiko> (On board of the blimp or in the B52 in the clamps beneath it)

<La_ST> (Rev: 20km far from the volcano. Close enough for it to be quite a spectaculum)

Lady_Samantha hugs Rhi tighter

<Rev_Jones> Wow. Would you look at that.

Nathan_Raiser limps over to the bridge...

<Himiko> hmm, the volcano spewed out some metallic object..

<Nathan_Raiser> What... was... that?

<Bill_Irvine> Holy shit! An eruption? Don't wanna be right above it. Could fry some sausages above it I guess... Or turning us into a lump of alloy

<Rhiannon_D> (Samantha: for some reason, you're suddenly filled with such a romantic sense and passion as if you were in a perfect candle-lit dinner under the stars in a Paris spring night...)

Rhiannon_D follows Samantha's example, tracing her own fingers the way Samantha does, and finally kissing her as she had so many times witnessed the members of her civilization do..

Rhiannon_D nods, a lively look in her eyes as she's analyzing all her recorded mating behavior, and fitting it to the current situation

Rhiannon_D proceeds to use her new-composed knowledge with Samantha...

Nathan_Raiser raises the hand with the comm unit limply

Rhiannon_D smiles, feeling Samantha's body, as she nods affirmatively and gives her another kiss.

Rhiannon_D then gets up from the bed and heads to the door with a playful laugh, beckoning Sam to follow..

<Skywarp> (via com) The vessel is 31.07m leng and seems to be shielded by an energy field

<Rhiannon_D> A Vessel? Not more enemies, I hope?

<Skywarp> (via com) Currently it hovers and moves down the slope of the volcano

<John_Jones> (I should point out that last time I worked out that the Rev and Rhi would become a "couple", leaving Sam and Bill. Recent events seem to leave Bill and the Rev together - and I have just seen the pic :(

<La_ST> The vessel is shapes like a cone and the outer hull shimmers magnificently in alles colours of a metallic iridescent rainbow. It looks more like a piece of art than like a vessel

<Bill_Irvine> Huh? Whatya mean by that?

<Himiko> It was shot to pieces by Skywarp

<Lady_Samantha> odd that

<Rhiannon_D> No, just curious.. the airship must have sustained more damage than I was aware off

<John_Jones> I mean I don't want to have to kill anyone else. Or be killed.

<Himiko> It still work, but there will be a huge gap in it where the cargo doors are..

<Rhiannon_D> Neither do we, Reverend...

<John_Jones> (btw... presumably we cannot see the pics in the B52?)

<La_ST> The ship is floating down the flank of the volcano, above an avlance of mud and molten snow

<Bill_Irvine> Rev, get real. You can't avoid things like that sometimes. It's the good vs the bad. That easy.

<Nathan_Raiser> Warp...

Himiko uses the radio to scan for any maydays...

<Bill_Irvine> But I guess we wont shoot unless it's neccessary

<Nathan_Raiser> cloak and monitor it while we see what we should do...

<La_ST> The vessel puts some distance between the volcano and it self, flying vaguely into the direction of the zeppelin

<Rhiannon_D> It seems to be heading towards us...

Rhiannon_D turns towards Sam first, and then the others.

<La_ST> Some of the lavabombs fall down onto the vessel, but they are simply deflected by the energy field surrounding it

<John_Jones> (to Bill) Well, let us see if we can see what this thing is. With your circuits ripped open like this it should be dead easy to remodulate the courier signals.

Lady_Samantha squeezes Rhi hand

<La_ST> (It seems to you that the smoke output of the volcano increases)

<Bill_Irvine> Where are the sausages if you need em?

Himiko sets up a slow backing off ascend

<La_ST> (The Earthship is also floating away from the volcano. Helga wants to get into a nice observation range to record everything)

<Lady_Samantha> good thought, hon, she might be stuck there too

Nathan_Raiser starts falling down clinging to the bulkhead and sitting down with a ouch...

Himiko is looking fascinated at the mountain.

Rhiannon_D offers to help Nathan stand upright.

<La_ST> (The Earthship moves at maybe 300km/h away from the mountain)

<Nathan_Raiser> ...sod... off...

Nathan_Raiser puts down his crutch in his lap and leans his head backwards

John_Jones coughs. "Coal dust."

<La_ST> Suddenly a the crater starts to glow a violent orange yellow, and a fountain of glowing lava, ash, rocks and smokes erupts several kilometers high

<La_ST> The following explosion noise is deafening

<Himiko> COOL

Himiko is smiling like a little kid

<La_ST> It appears as if a third of the top of the volcano sudenly erupted and lifted off, together with the glowing innards of the earth

Rhiannon_D records the incident and adds it to her database, comparing it to other recorded eruptions.

<Rhiannon_D> That was quite a large blast.

Rhiannon_D smiles to Samantha somewhat naively.

<La_ST> (The earthship has stopped and turned the bow towards the volcano. It looks af it is watching the event, too

<Bill_Irvine> Holy shit!

<Rhiannon_D> Almost like the one that the Atlantis-based unit had picked up before going offline..

<Nathan_Raiser> ...waaarp... was that caused or natural?

Lady_Samantha beams at Rhiannon brightly

<John_Jones> That is ... very wrong.

<Himiko> Presure build up with an initial explosion, followed by the explosion of the gasses that come free from the first one...

<Lady_Samantha> (don;t know what a DEI is ... but working)

<DocHelga> And if we don't stop these madmen who currently test quakebombs to get rid of unwanted opponents, there will be even more catastrophes on the way

Lady_Samantha looks at Rhiannon to see what she's waering

Rhiannon_D is already wearing a long, black dress that fits her form and curves very nicely. It's almost bare lace back is keeping it tightly onto her, while allowing her wing mechanism certain freedom.

Himiko feels like dropping to the floor again

Bill_Irvine stil sits by his plane

Lady_Samantha smiles in approval

Nathan_Raiser is lying down on the bed in the dark, staring at the ceiling...
