Asm0dai finally creates the secure booth in Bogart's where he and Agent Grey will have the 3rd attempt at having a serious conversation.

AgentGrey grins wryly.

Asm0dai puts up a small analysis software that will record Grey's conversation and mark his disposition and feelings.

<Asm0dai> (This is not to be shielded. This is only a magical lie detector. Technically you need something else to mask it. :))

<ST> (Asmo: Ok. You get the conversation. Grey doesn't have Life.)

<Asm0dai> (Well, I can use Forces to measure exact twitches of his eyes. Kinda like Blade Runner :))

<ST> (But he does keep up his Mind shield as usual. He *is* NWO.)

<Asm0dai> (Si, Signorina.)

<Asm0dai> So, Grey, let's talk about business.

AgentGrey looks at Asmo, a glass of fine Malt whiskey standing in front of him

<Asm0dai> I would like to summarise your situation. You are a Technocracy agent currently flying on a Reality Deviant starship through the Void, heading towards a bizarre extradimensional space that could be only qualified as Lycanthrope homeland.

AgentGrey looks a bit fatalistic.

<Asm0dai> You have not reported to your superiors for 5 days, and the circumstances of your disappearence are quite interesting to anyone. An RD in your care disappears along with you, and you and him are the only two people missing after an RD raid.

AgentGrey thinks: "As if I didn't know..."

<Asm0dai> Then you are obviously entangled with a certain spiffy red-haired RD that has the hots for you and strange technology. What I am wondering is: what are your plans - both with the RDs you are travelling with and the spiffy little space cadet; and what are your plans towards your current employers? I will say 'current' since you still have no clear allegiance.

AgentGrey gazes at Asmodai and tries to look as impassionately as he can, but it seems that he has quite a problem figuring out what he intends to do.

Asm0dai places a small zoom of Grey's eyes inside his head, checking for his results at his responses.

<AgentGrey> If I knew...

<ST> (This is very obviously the truth ^_^)

<Asm0dai> Well you'd better know since I'd say that you have a maximum of one or two days before you are labeled a liability.

<AgentGrey> Not necessarily...

<Asm0dai> And even if you do try turning us over and getting some credit, you are still in nasty shit, especially because they know you were into a small thing I did when you gave us access to those servers.

AgentGrey thinks he should have never signed up for that job the ItXers gave him.

<AgentGrey> Well, I'm aware that my situation is a bit ...difficult at the moment.

<Asm0dai> (Okay, now I am a bit stumped ;))

<ST> (I think you haven't gotten the Dan Primus file Hanni has?)

<Asm0dai> (I do have it. Why ?)

<ST> (Well, remember that part that it was known Dan was in contact with AC and that this contact was monitored? Grey was the one who did that. He kept tabs on AC quite a while before the bracelet affair and his big problem was that he got into the bracelet business through his NWO Supervisor. So he actually screwed up with the monitoring due to the bracelet stuff...)

<Asm0dai> (Ah, yes, I forgot he was there. As for Dan, he was assigned to get him in, that was what I concluded since he gave Acey access to Dan.)

<ST> (Well, and that's why he won't be MIA even if he stays longer. It's actually his mission to stay there.)

<Asm0dai> (Yeah, that Asmo could conclude from the file since he is obviously brighter and better at remembering details than I am ;))

<ST> (:-))

<Asm0dai> So, Grey, you do have two options, actually, but I can bet one will get you killed more likely than the other... Even if you may be a plant - hypothetically speaking, of course.

Asm0dai smiles.

AgentGrey raises an eyebrow.

<Asm0dai> (What was his reaction when I mentioned he was a plant?)

<AgentGrey> (Well, he tried not to react, but he kind of winced a bit.)

<Asm0dai> I think that thanks to you we got something noone will ever want to see...

<Asm0dai> (heh ;))

<Asm0dai> Well, Grey, I'll let you in on a little secret. What would you say if I told you that there is an RD conspiracy inside the Technocracy and that you have just given some RDs the keys to getting it?

<AgentGrey> An RD conspiracy? In what way?

<Asm0dai> You are a bright boy - think about it...

AgentGrey is puzzled, but tries not to show his confusion.

<AgentGrey> You mean there are actually more Union members sympathizing with RDs?

<Asm0dai> Hmmmm, let me put it this way: What would you say if I gave you proof that there was a huge conspiracy that works with mutants, Nephandi and XD entitities that don't like humanity?

<AgentGrey> Well, it seems that my Supervisor is involved in something like that, I fear now.

<Asm0dai> Oh, you have noticed something?

Asm0dai intentionally looks surprised.

<AgentGrey> Well, there are things I do not understand and that I definitely cannot condone either.

<Asm0dai> Yes?

<AgentGrey> Well, for example this obvious corruption of my Supervisor.

AgentGrey sighs.

Asm0dai checks to see if there is any deception on Grey's part.

<ST> (Also 3 sux - You still don't get through his Mind Shield, but his physical reactions don't show any deception.)

<Asm0dai> (This is getting hilarious.)

<Asm0dai> Hmm, Grey, you are quite blunt. I'd expect more cloak and dagger from an NWO Op.

Asm0dai uses Grey's hole in defenses due to flattery to try again.

<AgentGrey> Well, if it hadn't been for this damned bracelet, I certainly wouldn't have had to work together with you.

<Asm0dai> And your Supervisor has given it to you in the Virtual Web?

<AgentGrey> Well, she directed me to a place where I had no choice but stumble over it.

AgentGrey thinks it would have been so much easier if he could have simply kept to the task of monitoring that cute redhead RD. She was under surveillance because of the Dan Primus affair...

<Asm0dai> (That I know. But I am searching for why he is splurting all of this out...)

AgentGrey thinks that this accident with the bracelet did indeed mess up the whole operation, and if he couldn't blame his Supervisor, the (higher ranking) ItX guys, who gave him the surveillance job, wouldn't be amused at all.

<ST> (That's the reason - he has to get proof *he* didn't botch the other job, but that his Supervisor was to blame.)

<Asm0dai> (Wonderful!)

<Asm0dai> So, Grey, why DID you go with us anyway? You could have fought or fled, not just stood and then went with us.

AgentGrey continues thinking: And of course, if he finds out the Barabbi and terminates her, he would be definitely in for an advancement, too.)

<AgentGrey> Well... I hope I could manage to get proof to turn in the Barabbi in my Construct.

<Asm0dai> Hmmm, wrong answer. I'd say you had other reasons...

Asm0dai smirks.

<Asm0dai> ...and primarily they weren't red-headed...

AgentGrey looks at Asmodai, then into his whiskey glass. He seems to be somewhat embarassed, and his youth definitely shows.

<Asm0dai> So?

Asm0dai suddenly sounds and feels like an old man trying to help a poor lost kid.

<ST> (Hehe)

<AgentGrey> I don't think you'll believe me, if I tell you that I discovered during my observation of Acy that she is more likeable than I thought?

<Asm0dai> Oh, I would, but falling for her isn't the main reason you are here. Admit it, I was getting out confessions long before you were even born, and it wasn't over drinks in a fancy bar. Besides, I might help you... with any course of action you decide to take.

AgentGrey looks a bit perplexed at Asmodai.

<Asm0dai> The only thing that is a fact is that I won't let you hurt anyone of those RDs you are currently with, Primus and Marcello excluded. So you should just spill it and try and choose your path before you get yourself into a situation where you will either be killed by your bosses or by that crazy VA. So let's work on that.

<AgentGrey> You can be sure I don't want to hurt Acy.

<Asm0dai> (Truth?)

<ST> (Astonishingly, yes.)

<Asm0dai> And the others?

AgentGrey seems to fight with himself.

<AgentGrey> Well, as long as they don't attack me...

<Asm0dai> And still you avoided my question. Why are you with us? And why were you at the bar the night we assembled? The recorders in the Demise show that you were there waiting for someone for 10 mins before we entered, and suddenly you went to us.

AgentGrey looks at Asmo. He doesn't actually trust him, but on the other hand... He sighs again.

<AgentGrey> Well... I might as well tell you, I guess.

Asm0dai is tracking Grey's line of thought.

<AgentGrey> I was supposed to monitor Acy because of Dan's contact to her.

<Asm0dai> You do know that this was written in the files we ripped from the server?

Asm0dai smiles widely.

AgentGrey looks wide eyed at Asmodai.

<AgentGrey> You knew?

<Asm0dai> Oh, yes. But I still wanted to see how much you trusted me - and how much I could trust you. So continue...

AgentGrey smiles weakly.

<AgentGrey> Well, this ...accident with the bracelet was never anticipated. I was supposed just to monitor Acy. Well, to be truthful, I thought it wasn't exactly a bad job to watch her...

AgentGrey smiles wryly.

<Asm0dai> Right - and?

<AgentGrey> I'm sure the ItX Comptroller who got me assigned for the monitoring job is certainly not amused about how things turned out with the bracelet interfering...

<Asm0dai> How did you get to the bracelet in the first place?

<AgentGrey> As I already told you, my Supervisor was the reason. She told me to fetch a parcel for her, I couldn't resist its lure and opened it - et voilà.

<Asm0dai> Oh, you never heard that about curiosity killing the cat?

<ST> (He didn't have much of a choice... Remember Hannibal and the bracelet?)

<AgentGrey> The following time got hazy, I can only remember very dimly what happened. I just knew I had to keep contact with that cute red-head, and I guess that's why I approached her, and it was the bracelet that made me lure her into that trap.

<Asm0dai> So technically you would have ended up a zombie if you hadn't been helped by me and Hannibal.

<AgentGrey> So I told Acy about that area, as I was supposed to tell others, too, to get them under this malicious influence, I guess.

<Asm0dai> You were ordered by the Supervisor or the bracelet?

<AgentGrey> Well, I was ordered by my Supervisor, but the bracelet clouded my mind. It seemed all perfectly normal to do this.

Asm0dai thinks... and it was Wyrm corrupted.

<Asm0dai> What Convention does your Supervisor work for?

<AgentGrey> Well, she's NWO, just as I am. We are normally the ones for monitoring and infiltration, as you might have heard. But I guess she got infiltrated herself by that...

<Asm0dai> (Hmmm, in the files she was connected to Pentex or Syndicate, wasn't she?)

<AgentGrey> (Asmo: Syndicate. You are obviously right with you conspiracy theory.)

<Asm0dai> (Yeah... He has been hunting the SPD for more then 10 years hasn't he ;))

<ST> (*g*)

<AgentGrey> Well, but currently I am somewhat at a loss about how to proceed, I have to admit...

AgentGrey seems to be somewhat relieved that he finally could talk to someone about all of this. Even though he wonders if he does the right thing.

<Asm0dai> You did the right thing talking to me. If you went back, you'd probably be dead. You see, we stole some files that connect your Supervisor to the conspiracy, and by now she surely knows your part in all of it.

<AgentGrey> That was what I hoped - that I could prove her involvement.

<Asm0dai> If you tried, you'd be either dead or working for the conspiracy, and I think that your vision of Technocratic Earth doesn't include silent communion and cooperation with Nephandi, does it?

AgentGrey looks horrified at Asmodai.

<AgentGrey> Certainly not!

Asm0dai knows that the Nephandi are the only thing of all he is thinking about that Grey will understand. He still knows nothing of the Triat.

AgentGrey wants a safe and peaceful future for humanity - devoid of such horrors.

<Asm0dai> Well, I'd recommend you start concluding and extrapolating from what you saw...

<AgentGrey> You want me to join you?

<Asm0dai> No. I could use your help, but I cannot trust you...yet.

<AgentGrey> Help in what? Finding out the Nephandi who managed to take root in the Union?

AgentGrey would love to do that.

<Asm0dai> I have been fighting that corruption inside the Union for more then 10 years, but what you need to do is avoid getting back into the paws of your Supervisor, if you are going back.

AgentGrey hates the very thought of such corruption within the Union.

<AgentGrey> Well, my immediate job is monitoring Dan and his RD contact...

<Asm0dai> But if you want to stay with Acey, then you will have to realize that you are not in a too nice situation either.

AgentGrey looks somewhat pained at the mentioning of Acy. He really had come to like her quite a bit while he kept tabs on her, and he did not want anything bad happen to her.

<Asm0dai> And your supervisor is still a problem. She will find any way to discredit you, but it is nothing an assassination at the right time won't fix, or discrediting her.

Asm0dai grins.

<AgentGrey> I thought I could simply turn her in?

<Asm0dai> Nope, she has serious backing - a whole division of one of the Conventions.

<AgentGrey> Hm...

Asm0dai looks at Grey curiously.

AgentGrey is definitely torn between his loyalty to the Union and his feelings he developed for this cute RD.

<Asm0dai> Okay, I have a suggestion. First, you think about your survival. Then you think about the path you want to head.

<AgentGrey> Aren't those two directly connected?

<Asm0dai> No, since the more time you give your supervisor to manufacture evidence against you, the worse it will get for you

<AgentGrey> Well, she's my NWO supervisor. My current assignment came from a slightly higher up source in ItX who called in some favours with the NWO to get an Agent assigned to the Dan Primus case.

<Asm0dai> The ItX are probly a lesser problem. I should know...

<AgentGrey> Should know? How were you involved with ItX?

<Asm0dai> We had our entanglements.

Asm0dai grins.

<Asm0dai> Okay, I see you have to get to a flight towards Farstrider's realm. We can plan what we'll do with your Supervisor once you get back.

<AgentGrey> You mean, I shouldn't keep my spacegirl waiting, hm?

<Asm0dai> Yeah, and try to be nice to her. She really does like you.

AgentGrey smiles slightly.

<AgentGrey> Well, I do, too.

<Asm0dai> But before getting mushy and off topic...

AgentGrey grins wryly.

<Asm0dai> And before I tell you more about the conspiracy, I want you to try and collect as much as you can on your Supervisor with these resources. And do try to conclude what and who is trying to mess with the Union.

<AgentGrey> Well, this I will gladly do. But currently I have to keep up with the monitoring job on Dan Primus.

<Asm0dai> Yes. Are you or he connected by anything with any HQ?

Asm0dai watches him intently.

<Asm0dai> (Is he?)

<AgentGrey> No. It was considered to be to dangerous. I have to send in reports whenever possible, but discreetly of course.

<ST> (Nope. Because of just that reason.)

<Asm0dai> Perfect. Then there is no proof of your entanglements with the RDs. We will work on that later. So tally ho - you have a spiffy redhead waiting for you...

Asm0dai smiles.

AgentGrey smiles, too.

<AgentGrey> Indeed...

<Asm0dai> So I'll be leaving you. Bye, Grey. Cya after this situation.

Asm0dai gets up and starts leaving.

<AgentGrey> Be seeing you.
