<ST> Let's start...

<ST> All over the web there have been rumours spreading... As the Digital Web crashed, the crash left over far too many defunct and corrupted areas. Now some nifty people thought it might be cool to do something about this in a bigger style. As there are so many spinners around with some real talent to change the face to the web, it was thought up a Web Art Contest, that would serve two puposes

<ST> 1. It would help rebuild the DW to a new beautiful whole.

<Hannibal_Golux> (damn! knew I should have spent some points in Expression... :) )

<ST> 2. It might give the spinners aworthwhile tak to hone their talents and skills.

<ST> This Contest was thought up by some of the more famous spinners, and rumour has it, that even Dante had his hand in this. As the Spy's Demise was the most (in)famous neutral ground, Maxine was selected to host the event, and a Jury of 5 spinners was chosen to preside over the event. Interestingly, the Web Art Contest was ruled to be open for all, so even Technocrats with an artistic bent could choose to enter. As the event was about formatting and designing sectors, there were many entries from both side in fact. The prize was something very rare nowadays: A small sector of genuine Virgin Web.

<Hannibal_Golux> (If the prize is a bracelet - I'm walking outta here)

Deadalus appears on the screen of the TV in Marv's room looking like a cute pale Goth girl with wild black hair and asilver ankg around her neck

<ST> Logically this was a prize well worth contending for, and Maxine set up a desk to let the interested parties sign up.

<Deadalus> Marvieeeeeeeeeeeeee...

Marvin_Black looks up from his computer, where he is playing around with some softwaresynth, looking somewhat shocked

<Marvin_Black> Huh? You are still alive?

<ST> The main room of the Demise now is filled well, and there are quite some queues of spinners waiting to be able to sign up

Deadalus smiles and waves from the TV

<Deadalus> ... oh silly, I never died...

<ST> (Ok, now you are on :-)

<Deadalus> (sorry)

<Marvin_Black> I thought you all would have found a way to kill yourselves after all... And I could live my miserable life in peace

<Deadalus> Well I am still quite kicking... Listen, there is this cool thing up in the Demise!

Deadalus smiles.

Marvin_Black sighs.

<Deadalus> They are opening a Sector Design contest. The winner gets a piece of Virgin Web! Maybe you could enroll and make yourself a nice moody black cib in the sector...

<ST> BTW, I almost forgot - there is also a performance of the famous VJ/DJ Red Queen to entertain the guests while they wait

<Marvin_Black> I know... I stumbled into it, when I made the mistake not to stay in bed on Friday 13th

<Deadalus> and then I could visit you more easily...

Hannibal_Golux looks around the Spy's Demise, marvelling at how busy it is. He has not seen it this busy for some time. Amidst the colourful characters, Han, in his monochrome, either stands out or blends away, depending on your point of view. There is twinkle of something different behind his dark glasses. The code streaming within its reflective depths seem somewhat brighter for a moment. Only faintly, barely noticeable.

<Marvin_Black> I never wanted to get into it, but now I'm in and I'm skipping it

<Deadalus> You should go! Just think of the cool sectors you could make. A nice pit of blackness...

<Marvin_Black> I won't win anyway.

AC_Newton stands in the queue of the people waiting to sign up. Kev accompanies her and looks somewhat amused.

<Deadalus> Well you never know till you try!

Hannibal_Golux strides over to have a look at who the judges for the contest are.

<Deadalus> And the task is to arrange a sector that was trashed!

<Marvin_Black> I definitely know. Such things are only for people who believe there is something like hope.

Red_Queen is busy playing easy listening for the hard of hearing in the Demise and looking good while at it.

<Deadalus> (LOL!)

<Hannibal_Golux> ;)

<Deadalus> All the others will be there. Will you come?

<Marvin_Black> It sounds quite well arranged then.

<ST> (Hanni: The Judges are not yet there)

<Hannibal_Golux> (But surely they are listed)

<ST> (Hanni: You don't find a listing. You might try to ask Maxine, though...)

<Deadalus> No, they look like corrupt hard drive, silly...

Deadalus grins.

<Deadalus> They don't have form, only chaos and holes. You could at least give it proper Gothic lookiness.

<Marvin_Black> Just like the world will be in some years

Michaelangelo signed himself in as soon as he hears about the contest.

<Deadalus> So will you do it Marvie?

Deadalus smiles....

<Marvin_Black> Why should I do it? I won't win anyway.

<Deadalus> Well at least you get a sector to make nice and cozy! And you will make the Web a nicer place to look at.

<Marvin_Black> I have a living room... Where I am *normally* undisturbed. I wanted to stay clear of suicidal beings.

<Deadalus> This won't be dangerous Marv. Only design and fun - or despair and spreading misery in your case... Come on!

Marvin_Black sighs.

Hannibal_Golux notices AC Newton, a smile passes over his face and he walks over to her.

<Hannibal_Golux> Newton. Long time no see.

<AC_Newton> Oh, Hanni!

AC_Newton beams at Hannibal.

<AC_Newton> How are you?

Hannibal_Golux smiles broadly, and only the most observant might observe him struggle to maintain it as he sees the former Agent Grey next to her.

KevinGrey nods somewhat stiffly towards Hannibal.

<AC_Newton> Hanni, do you want to enter the contest, too?

<Hannibal_Golux> Yes, well, I thought it might be fun.

Hannibal_Golux would be the first to admit that the idea of him having "fun" was somewhat the antithesis of his image and hihs cynicism.

<Hannibal_Golux> So how are you, my dear? And what mischief have you been getting yourself into lately.

<AC_Newton> Ah, I was mainly on the MoonLab, and I had to show Kev some of the wonders of Etherspace.

KevinGrey smiles a bit.

<KevinGrey> This "Etherspace" looks indeed ...highly intriguing, I have to admit.

Red_Queen noticing the large number of gray faces in the room, makes a perfect transition to Front Line Assembly's "Colombian Necktie".

<Marvin_Black> Wait a sec, I log in and if there is any danger, I'll jack out

<Deadalus> Okay Marv. Just wait in the queues. I will be around. Cya there!

Deadalus waves and blows Marv a kiss and dissapears from the screen.

Marvin_Black logs on and sighs, while he enters the DW near the Demise.

<Red_Queen> (That'd be Grayfaces. Techies. And those who know the lyrix to Colombian Necktie should know what I'm talking about.)

<Hannibal_Golux> Hmm. Well, so long as you haven't been picking up any more Union defects.

<Red_Queen> (lol)

Hannibal_Golux avoids Grey's gaze.

<AC_Newton> Ahm, not. I'm fully content with Kev...

AC_Newton beams at Hanni.

<AC_Newton> I'm going to set up some Digital version of the Gerns! Well, that's the plan, and Kev is going to help me with that.

KevinGrey looks as if he hadn't had much choice about that ^_^

Asm0dai comes next to the queue.

<Asm0dai> Hi guys...

<Hannibal_Golux> Do you know who the judges are for this? I can't seem to find a list.

<AC_Newton> The Judges? Nope. They say they want to go about the sectors incognito to take a look or so.

<Hannibal_Golux> Hmm. I'll ask Maxine.

<Asm0dai> You are also enlisting? You should have come earlier. There were no real queues and one could swipe a access easy.

Hannibal_Golux turns to look at Asmodai.

<Hannibal_Golux> Asmo. Long time no see. Been keeping yourself busy?

<Asm0dai> Yes, Han. You are enrolling as well?

<Hannibal_Golux> Yes. Why not? It's a good prize.

Asm0dai looks at the others.

<AC_Newton> Well, Asmo, it took me some time to convince Kev that he had to help me with this.

AC_Newton stands on the tips of her toes and gives him a kiss on the cheek.

<Asm0dai> Oh, you are going as a team?

<AC_Newton> Yes, sure!

KevinGrey nods.

<KevinGrey> Well, Acy asked me to...

Marvin_Black enters the Demise, looking around and sighs.

<Marvin_Black> I wanted to stay out of this place.

Red_Queen looks at the goth looking guy that just entered.

Marvin_Black looks rather depressed, uninterested and hopeless

<Asm0dai> Hi Marv. Anything new in your land of despair and bones?

<Hannibal_Golux> Newton, have you heard anything from our friend, Marcello, recently? I can't seem to get in touch with him at all.

Marvin_Black sees Asmo and the others. A deeeeeeeeeeep sigh comes from his lips

Red_Queen switches the tune to ATR's "Delete Yourself", while still looking at the guy.

Asm0dai darknes...

<AC_Newton> Uh, Marcello... Well, I wasn't actually around, but Teora told me...

<Asm0dai> Marcello and Mc have left us...

<Marvin_Black> Oh, you still live, too? I thought you all found a way to end your life in a horrible but spectacular war

<Asm0dai> Marcello seems to habe gone mad and trashed a sectoer in the process...

Hannibal_Golux looks across the sea of colourful characters and spots the other dark spot in the Demise. His bone white face beams at Marvin cynically.

<Asm0dai> MC was caught I nthe backlash...

<Asm0dai> she was seriusly hurt...

<AC_Newton> Hanni: It seems that some part of MC that got lost attacked Marcello, he went insane and then attacked MC, and some other guy, too

<Asm0dai> She was too tired to go on and went back hoem to have some rest...

<Asm0dai> she found Kat though...

Hannibal_Golux suddenly turns back to Asmo. His smile drops.

<Hannibal_Golux> He's dead!"?

<AC_Newton> MC was brought to her house to heal, I don't know abiout the other guy, though

<Asm0dai> there was a problem though... Kat hated the Web...

<Asm0dai> he is dead...

<Asm0dai> he managed to do a hard Whiteout

<Asm0dai> nothing was left there...

<_Nita_> (umms MC did comment about what was said at the end before she passed out)

Hannibal_Golux looks a little shocked. If he could go any paler he would, but that's a hard thing for an Albino to pull off.

AC_Newton shudders

<Asm0dai> MC and that newbie got trashed totallly...

Marvin_Black doesn't seem to be affected in any way

<AC_Newton> This sounded all so horrible!

<Marvin_Black> I told him.. He could not cheat Death

<Asm0dai> Teora had pics of how MC looked...

<Hannibal_Golux> So wait a minute. Is Moonchild dead also?

<Asm0dai> it was one of the nastiest case of Burnout I ever saw...

AC_Newton leans against Kev, who puts his arms around her

Bar_staff says "It's from the lady" nodding off to the Queen's direction.

AC_Newton sighs

<Hannibal_Golux> People deal with loss in different ways I suppose.

<Hannibal_Golux> Well, I'll catch up with you later. I gotta go talk to Maxine and then try and bustle my way to the sign-up list.

Hannibal_Golux leaves the group and squeezes his way over to Maxine.

Maxine smiles noncommittally at the entries

Hannibal_Golux greets Maxine with a smile.

<Marvin_Black> Why is it she gave that to me? It must be poisoned

<Hannibal_Golux> Maxine: It's pretty busy today. Business must be booming.

Maxine has three assistants assigned the tasks to write down handles and signatures of the people who want to enter

Maxine smiles at Hannibal

<Hannibal_Golux> A lot of interest from the competition, I see. Hey, who are the judges?

Maxine knows the albino for a while now

<Marvin_Black> I knew this would get dangerous. I just arrived and people start making fun of me already. Just as usual...

<Red_Queen> (Blue Meanie maybe???)

Asm0dai waves to the others and heads around... after soem tiem he sits down next to a girl with long raven black hair that seems to be wearign shades and drinking a fizzy drink

<Maxine> Well, the judges actually wanted to keep a bit secret for a while, but I might make an exception for you

Maxine shoves a paper towards him. It's confidential, though

Hannibal_Golux smiles, oozing charm.

Hannibal_Golux takes the paper, lifts his shades and gives her a wink.

Red_Queen sends a message to Maxine asking her if she wants to make an announcement. Before switching to the new Front 242 album.

<Hannibal_Golux> You are a star, Maxine. Did anyone ever tell you that?

<Maxine> Yes, Hanni, several dozens of times. But I like to hear it nonetheless

Hannibal_Golux looks at the piece of paper and struggles to contain his laughter.

Marvin_Black sighs and checks if the drink smells strange

Hannibal_Golux pats Maxine gently on the shoulder and turns to leave. Before he does so, he says: "You'd better sign me up. Even if I don't win, I want to see the look on some of these faces."

Maxine smiles

<Maxine> I put you down righter after the idea of the contest was cooked up. I knew you wouldn't pass this on

<Hannibal_Golux> You know me too well.

Red_Queen signs herself up while changing tracks. the image of a dark EBM club of her own is intriguing..

Marvin_Black carefully sips at the drink, still loking rather unmotivated

AC_Newton sighs while she waits in the queue

AC_Newton is happy that Kev is keeping her company

Marvin_Black sighs

Red_Queen sighs in relief, seeing that the neat looking guy has finally decided to accept her drink.

Hannibal_Golux comes over and puts his hand on Newton's shoulder. "Good luck!" he smiles and then darts off back into the crowd.

Marvin_Black realizes the drink is not poisoned and drinks less reluctantly

AC_Newton wonders how Hanni did that - obviously he already managed to get signed upo

AC_Newton still had some 20 people in front of her..

Marvin_Black watches the others standing in line to sign up.

Marvin_Black nods into the direction of Queen

Hannibal_Golux looks at Marv's face for a moment, seemingly in earnest and then cracks a smile.

Red_Queen also notices the girl next to him. Etherite, judging from the appearance.

<Hannibal_Golux> For a moment I thought you did have a noodle, but now I realise it's a strand of hair.

Hannibal_Golux grins cheekily.

AC_Newton has a very happy smile on her face while she waits

Hannibal_Golux follows Marvin's gaze to Red Queen.

<Hannibal_Golux> She's a bit of a looker. Well, at least her icon is.

Red_Queen looks at the goth and the black and white icon next to him, when they both suddenly turn to face her. If she wasn't the Red Queen, they'd notice she was blushed.

<Red_Queen> (had blushed, was blushing, whatever.)

<Hannibal_Golux> (quietly) It could well be a fat bloke still living with his mother for all you know. A fat bloke particularly expert at icon manipulation.

<Marvin_Black> Hanni: Why should I be interested in what is behind this icon?

_Nita_ walks to the bar to get a drink... ordering 2 fizzy drinks

Hannibal_Golux looks blankly at Marv in disbelief.

<Hannibal_Golux> Um. How about meet people? Y'know. *Real* people. Have a life. While you can.

<Hannibal_Golux> I dunno. There must be clubs out there where other eternally depressed people talk morbidly about death. Or maybe a churchyard somewhere.

<Marvin_Black> I have a life, so I can die some day. Why should I want to meet people? They die anyway...

<Hannibal_Golux> Yeah, but you can die together. You may be going to hell in a bucket, but at least you can enjoy the right. Praise the Grateful Dead.

Michaelangelo takes out his scetchblock and starts drawing the people.

<Marvin_Black> I see no need in meeting people. Normaly I would be at home right now, sigh and curse this miserable life. Now I'm not at home, miserable, sigh and curse this miserable life

KevinGrey feels somewhat bored, standing there in the queue. If it hadn't been for AC he'd probably have skipped this contest. He wasn't much of an artist, after all

<Hannibal_Golux> Life is full of pain and misery. Kicks and fits. The bleakness, the waste, the pitiful excuses for lives that people live. Wasting away until there is nothing but a piece of granite with a forgotten name on it. Now what's the harm in injecting a little pleasure, however short lived, into that? Maybe, just maybe, that lump of granite will have some flowers by it from time to time. And yes, even the flowers die.,

Michaelangelo is enjoying him quite a bit. He turns pages with complete groups of people quite fast...

Red_Queen is now playing No Remorse (I Wanna Die) by Slayer and ATR, while accidentally setting one of the wall displays to show Marvin.

Red_Queen changes the picture as fast as she can, hoping that noone really noticed.

Hannibal_Golux noticed. :)

Marvin_Black didn't notice so far

Hannibal_Golux lets a wry smile creep across his face.

Michaelangelo is enjoying the music and sketching with charcoal so fast that it seems his hand is flying over the paper.

AC_Newton is relieved - only 5 people left in front of her _Kay_ rolled 5d10 dice and got: 1, 4, 6, 3, 8

Hannibal_Golux hands Marv a list of appropriate books and films (I can't think of any specific right now apart from the Peter Sellers one in which he enters the world much like Marv, apparently, but I forget the name of it)

<Hannibal_Golux> (No, this was a later one in which he was a guy that emerged to the world having grown up with no experience of it, only watching TV or something and then manages to rise to power and even become president - it's a comedy/satire)

<Hannibal_Golux> A list of books and films. Read them, watch them. They should teach you about love and life and the, well, a close approximation of the real world.

<Marvin_Black> I told you... People should not stick together... It takes horrible turns and ends. Friendships are in vein

<Hannibal_Golux> Marv: They are based on real life experiences. Trust me, there is more truth in those words of fiction than many would care to admit.

<Hannibal_Golux> Those things happen a lot less than events from those films and novels.

Hannibal_Golux leads Marv back to the table with the others.

Hannibal_Golux "accidentally" spills his drink onto Grey.

KevinGrey sighs, lets go of AC's hand and reprograms his icon to "clean" again

Hannibal_Golux texts Nita: Sorry, who are you?

Hannibal_Golux gives Grey a wry look.

AC_Newton frowns at Hannibal

Marvin_Black sits there silently

Hannibal_Golux looks innocently at Newton.

KevinGrey decides to ignore the bait

Hannibal_Golux manages to hide his wince at reference to Grey as her "boyfriend" to all but the astutely observant.

Marvin_Black stares into the darkness of his drink

AC_Newton wonders what Hanni would say if she'd decide to call Kev her "fiancé" :-)

Hannibal_Golux creates a little sparkle of light in the depths of the darkness of Marv's drink, but he hides it enough that it would take an innordinant amount of time to trace the origins of the hack.

Marvin_Black furrows his eyebrows and puts the glass on the table
