Background Story

Name: Castor Freeman
Age: 21
Date of Birth: 6th December 1982
Sex: Male
Place of Birth: Los Angeles

Castors childhood wasn't such a happy one, the bright kid grew up
with his grandparents, because his own parents were themselves
barely children. His grandparents, nice people as they were, had
their own children to take care off, so Castor was a bit ignored.
When he went to school he had no problems at all with learning,
but he wasn't one of the brightest around either. He had only
one hobby, drawing. Any moment of his free time he drew whatever
he felt like. His drawings depicted mostly people and things he
cared about. That way they were always close to him. After
highschool he send a few of his drawings to an art school to
apply there. He was admitted with the highest recommendation and
a large scholarship grant by some organisation for
underprivileged children. Here he learned to make other forms of
visual art, but he couldn't manage to get the hang of the doing
anything else than drawing and painting. That is untill he met a
girl, who was into computer graphics design. From that moment
on, Castor spent his every moment learning on how to use this for
him new medium. It took only two weeks to get the hang of
creating computer graphics, and another half year before he
really outshined everyone. Sometimes it felt like the pictures
came into existance just because Castor wanted them to. But he
didn't only make graphics with his computer. He also made the
graphics alive, and created a small world on his computer. He
then shared his graphics stuff for the world to see, but soon
someone crashed his computer. He learned a lot more about
computer, networks, and other things and found out who crashed
his computer. It was his former girlfriend, Elisa "Donatella"
Donato. A heft rivalry started up and both he and his ex tried
to prove themselves better than the other. When Elisa got an
artist job at Inland Mages, Castor drew up art for Black Dog.
When Castor started working for Icestorm Entertainment, Elisa got
a job at a competing games company. At the age of 20 Castor
became a member of the Virtual Adepts. This happened because one
day late after work he was playing around with an old virtual
realtiy set used for some silly games, games that had simple
graphics, but were quite interesting by design. When he entered
the game, and beat the game in under 30 minutes, he discovered
that this game also had a door in the back. Curious, he stepped
through the door and came into a new world. This is how he
discovered the DW. To his surprise at the other side of the door
he found a complete new world that was bristling and shining with
activity. These weren't just graphics... it seemed alive.
Later when he was found by (insert a good NPC name) he was
introduced to the wonders of this new world, the DW. He wandered
around and discovered some quite nice things, and when he
critized the one who introduced him to this world on his shabby
appearance, this person challenged him to do things better.
Castor did. This is how he earned the nickname "Icon_Master".
When he discovered the playground he thought he was in heaven..
or in hell actually. But he also discovered that no matter his
impressing skills in the computer and graphics department. He
could not change how this world looked. Yet.

After buying his own installation for entering the DW, Castor
discovered the wondrous realms of the demise, and how these
places remembered him very much about the MUDs and MUSHes he
played. For the purposes of these "realms" he drew himself up
icons for Ghastenburg Castle, The Galleon, Paradise Island,
Bogarts, the Zeppelin deck. He is also the court painter in
Castle Ghastenburg, and serves the King in this position. But it
was quite amazing to discover that the painter of the Queen, was
his ex-girlfriend Elisa. He became somewhat famous as
Michaelangelo is the Ghastenburg Castle. And the rivalry became
quite intense again, and with court intrigues like those in
Ghastenburg Castle, to prevent character death, it was safer for
him to leave that place for a while and do other things.

In Bogarts he's known as Mickey. There he usually sits in the
back of the place and makes drawings of people. He sells these
drawings for a drink (tass).

On the Galleon he's known as Sir Michael Morrain, a dangerous
pirate and master fencer. Here he hangs out when he has some
aggression to get rid off.

On the Zeppelin deck he's an artist again, Michael Masters. He
paints people, and landscapes. He sometimes sells his paintings,
but these paintings he only sellls for very high prices.

On Paradise Island he's known as Mike.

In all the other zones, he is known as Michaelangelo, the
Icon_Master. He's quite famous for his icons and for the right
price, a very high price on advice of some of his VA friends, he
makes one for them. His favorite spot in the whole DW is the
Playground, not because it's so darn ruined and depressing, but
because he intends to someday rebuild it. His usual work inside
the DW is to help rebuild any damaged sectors. He helps codes
the graphical features for the sectors.

General Character traits:

Not the usual VA, he's not interested in creating reality 2.0,
the real world is also quite fun. But if the Digital Web really
becomes reality 2.0, then at least it should look good. Thats
what he does. Information should be free. Well not really, or
really not. Information should be easily available for those
that know how to handle it. Educating the masses. Yes, well..
it's perfectly alright to teach people new tricks, but thats not
something that will happen soon. At least I can help them make
their world a nicer place to live in. Even if it's just for
show.

He asks really high prices for work he does for private persons,
but if it's for the good of many, his services are usually free.

Michaelangelo, Icon_Master: This Icon appears like a man with
well-groomed black hair, that is starting to grey at the temples.
He wears modern glasses, a pair of well-worn jeans and a
lumberjack's shirt, with paint smears on it. He has blue eyes
that are nearly gray and he is about 6' tall, with a slim and
well trained body. This icon breathes, reacts to the apparant
climate as fitting and can even show signs of exertion.
(Appearance 2)

Michaelangelo, Icon-Master is quite famous among those who are in
need of someone with talent for graphical work. He only asks
payment for those things that are not available to everyone. The
more private the work, the higher his price, but he's worth it.

Michaelangelo, the Court Painter: This Icon appears like an
ancient man, with short shaggy-looking gray beard with some paint
in it, skin that looks like parchment and many many wrinkles. He
has clear, almost twinkling black eyes. He wears a brown velvet
monks robe, and an paint-stained old leather apron, that could
use immediate replacement. He appears about 5' tall, but that
seems mostly caused by his bent-over posture. He moves faster
and with more grace than you would expect from him. His voice
sounds raspy and old, and he is a little bit hard of hearing. If
you weren't inside the DW, you could have sworn that
Michaelangelo was a real person. (Appearance 2)

Michaelangelo, the Court Painter work for King Henry in
Ghastenburg Castle. He keeps as far away from Court Intrigue as
possible, but he is somehow involved in a feud with Lady
Elisabeth, the painter of the Queen's Court. He takes orders
from other residents in the castle, but he's not cheap at all.
Lady Elisabeth and he seem to have a silent understanding about
the prices they ask for their paintings, even though their own
little game of intrigue have cost many noble ladies and gentlemen
their repution if not worse.

Mickey: This icon is a young androgynous looking person, with
long blond hair bound in a ponytail, and dazling green eyes, with
long lashes. This icon is about 6' tall and wears clothes that
are a few sizes to large for it. It's wearing a pair of black
trousers, black shoes, a white shirt and a black pullover. This
icon is quite attractive, though it is hard to see wether it's
male or female, but as indicated by the clothing, most people
assume it's male. This icon has perhaps the best graphical
interface design and programming, and could be mistaken for a
hollistically immersed person. This icon is by far the best
creation Castor ever made. It's as real as something in the DW
can be real. (Appearance 3)

Mickey is actually Castor's only female icon, and can be found in
a dark corner of Bogarts. Here she makes charcoal drawings of
the people present there. You can buy her drawings for a drink
of tass. She doesn't talk much though, and she isn't interested
at all in the going-ons there. She just draws and occasionally
drinks a drink. If she would somehow decide to start showing her
"true" gender. Her Appearance would increase by one.

Sir Michael Morrain the Pirate: This Icon is about 6'5" tall, has
long black hair bound in a ponytail. He has hard black eyes and
very sharp facial features. It wears a pair of black trousers,
short black leather boots (folded), he wairs a bright white shirt
with lace along the buttons and on the sleeves. He wears a black
sash with at the back a single pistol, and highly ornamented
sabre in a sabre at his side. This icon moves with long
carefully calculated strides and it reacts to the environment
just as most of Castor's characters do. (Appearance 2,
Intimidation 2)

Sir Michael Morrain the Pirate is Castors way of getting rid of
any agressive tendencies. He's almost always found on board of a
pirate ship, but he's never the captain. He's quite skilled and
deadly with his sabre and usually disables his opponents by
cutting at all the important ligaments and then cuts their
throats, but not deep enough to kill them fast. His opponents
there usually die a long and agonizing death.

Mike, the Beachboy: This icon is 7' tall and has short
sand-colered hair and clear blue eyes. He is very well muscled
and has a great tan. He wears a blue wetsuit, that covers him
from above the knees to just above the waist, where the rest of
the wetsuit is rolled up. When he's on paradise island he always
carries a surfboard around, but nobody has every seen him surf.
Mike is strong, agile, and handsome. Mike reacts to the
environment as most Castor's characters do. (Appearance 4)

Mike actually has no character. All he does at the beach is look
pretty for the ladies, he has no converstational skills
whatsoever and is a dumb as can be.

Michael Masters: This icon appears like a poor painter, with all
his painting untensils with him, who paints customers, or views
from the Zeppelin Deck. He's a small wiry looking fellow, with
brown hair, hazel eyes, and of almost indistinguishable build
(he's based on Castor himself).

Michael Masters sits on the Zeppelin deck and paints. He has
also a sign mounted on the front of his easel which reads will
paint for tass. He doesn't like conversation much, but he isn't
too dull.

Castor Freeman, the real person: His "icon" is 5'11 tall, wears a
hearing aid. Has hair of an indistinguishable brown color, hazel
eyes. He's not ugly or handsome... he's just average.

Castor Freeman: In real life Castor Freeman works as an
freelancer for the computer games industry, for which he
sometimes does graphic design or sometimes does programming,
depending on his mood at that point. He's also freelances as an
artist for some roleplaying games producers. He makes most of
his money however by selling paintings, or doing grafity on
walls.
